[GRE] Boosted fast speed calibration issues
I've noticed that the entire set of speeds changes if the boosted fast speed is set on or off, not just the top speed. In GR it used to be that all of the speeds stayed the same except the fastest, which got boosted. Now, if I turn the setting off, all speeds become excruciatingly slow. And if I turn it on, they all get a bit faster, but the boosted fastest speed isn't much faster than the "tick 5" speed. (In GR, boosted used to be MUCH faster.)

We'll do some testing on this, but could you provide a bit more details? Which faction are you playing? Is this campaign or regular play? How many systems and factions? If you'd like to send us your savegame, I've opened ticket 36295 for this.
It is worth noting that during GRE development we did observe that some of the event systems used in the game engine can have a performance impact. While this is normally small, each GRE campaign uses ~ 1500 events. These do at times limit the top speed of the game depending what's active. Also, the campaigns use a 45 system map and 9 or 10 factions. The larger the galaxy, the more load it puts on game. While we allow single player up to 200 systems, the performance at those large sizes does suffer.
What would probably be most helpful is to know how long it takes your system to run 10 days with this savegame so we can get an average speed per day.

It's the Enlightened campaign, I'm about 1 hour in. I'll link the savegame when I get home. The difference between this and original GR is dramatic, as far as the boosted fastest speed is concerned. The weirder issue, though, is that when I turn that off, *all* of the speed levels drop dramatically, not just the top speed, which is unexpected behavior relative to original GR (where only the top speed was modified).Balthagor wrote: ↑Apr 20 2024 We'll do some testing on this, but could you provide a bit more details? I'll have to ask the programming team about it, I don't recall there being a specific change to the boost speed mechanic.
The overall slowdown is likely due to all the events. If you can get us the savegame we can give it a look.

I'm getting about 2sec/day on my system (Ryzen 5600, 16GB) which is about what we expect in the campaigns. More systems, more factions and a lot of events just creates more load on the CPU. I'll show the file to the programming team and see if they have thoughts to add.

If it's expected, not a problem, it's just very different from GR!

Re: [GRE] Boosted fast speed calibration issues
I have noticed that I get a much higher speed when I'm not in the campaign, so that tracks with the events stuff.
However, I am definitely noticing also that the different speed levels ALL change when I have boosted fastest toggled on/off. If this is intentional, then the toggle description should be different. It looks like all the speeds scale up, not just speed 6.

Re: [GRE] Boosted fast speed calibration issues
The name of the option has been updated to just "Boosted Game Speed" to be more accurate.
