my art doesnt seem to be auto attacking enemy naval units
Its nice to se the enemy navy commit to the war ,but it would be nicer if my art would engage them

Also, when given an attack unit order for a ship, they fire and move toward the ship.Let do so, they will move into the hex right next to the ship if they can.

sams are firing long range at ground targets again , did you get the art and sam stat entries mixed up ?

As with the Artillery, it sounds like the problem is, they fire once, then they move towards their target, when in reality they should stay at their max firing range but they're not.
Does that sound about right?

that sounds like part of it, but they only attack ships when they are given an attack target order also in my exp ,so theres a bit more to it.

Nothing helpful,just was an island invasion ,the enemy navy showed up piecemeal ,my art never seemed to fire on them, unless i gave them the specific order to do so.

Kinda have the same issue in SRU. For some reason you guys gave WW1 scenarios away in the latest patch (well prolly a mistake), so i decided to try them, but in proxy areas artillery wont attack my units, untill i attack them. So im free to collect enough infantry in proxy areas right on their door steps (so no enemy infantry or tanks in sight) before i attack. I dont think thats how it works in Ukraine right now. If they see foreign units from Georgia for example you bet they are getting shelled asap.
I think its also issue in modern scenarios, but you dont notice it that hard since artillery wont do more damage then the units getting healed usually, especially being entrenched in cities.
Btw feel free to remove the ww1 scenarios, i already got a copy of the scenarios now I dont think i will play it tho, with all the issues in theatre. Too boring and too easy to exploit.

Have you tried the same situation but with AI having control of the units? I think that it might target properly.
That sounds like it might be intended functionality, if you feel like this is a problem in SRU then make a thread for it please with a save game we can use to replicate the issue!

My other ground units fire on an enemy when its in range on their own, i dont see why artillary should be unable to
