a tale of Synthetic Oil and Power exploitation in 5 parts.

Part1: the setup

Only UI-mods, Arena 6A map - region does not matter, though access to synth.oil and petrol power production is necessary.
Startdate: 2020 APRIL 10

Information about the used facilities:
Synth.oil: this type of oil production uses only electricity as input.
Petrol power plant: this powerplant uses only petroleum to produce electricity.

Started to build several hexes full of petrol power plants and synthetic petrol production.
Hit fastest speed button.

Part 2: the vicious circle starts
New Year 2021
After the petrol plants are finished all other types of electricity production are scrapped.
At first the exponential growth is not seen - as usual in most cases.
2021 JAN 17 now everyone can see it on their bill.

Part 3: there is no inflation like hyperinflation
2021 FEB 2
Two weeks later , the bill needs another digit.
"Selling conditions are unfavorable" is quit the understatement for a 6digit $ price per barrel.

Here are some general stats to get an idea about the state of the region.
I did nothing except build petrol power plants, synth.oil facilities, and scrap all other power types.

Using my overview mod - the resource overview (which even i dont use it that much)
but here look at the production costs , the upper value, now easily to find due to double the amount of digits or even an M (for Million)

Eleven days later you need another 2 digits.
At least the domestic minister reduced the price markups for petrol, electricity and consumer goods to help with the real (sarcasm) inflation.

Welcome to the 32-bit Apocalypse today and not in 2038!
Do not worry this is just a display issue - should you ever go below this threshold (pretty unlikely in this scenario)
it will display "normal" values again.

Part 5: Singularity
This was first used by the games rogue AI in an old version of my DT-mod,
which did not obey the no-build rule for this synth.oil building in the games .unit file
...fear IT...

Yeah nice. I would have thought the gdp/c would also go up tho, seems your ministers doesnt know how to spend the money. Anyway funny how the demand keeps the same. You would think after a certain point things get too expensive :lol:

That's the nature of economy..

To spend the money you need
1) more people
2) more business
3) more branches of economy

imagine someone has everything.. he doesn't want to buy anything.. you can give him 500 Million, he'll just park it on the bank account..

Now you create a new branch, tourism. There's a company that offers walking on glass bridges in the alps, sauna, pool, all-incl..

Suddenly that person wants this, the advertisement is so great, complete new business opened and all-in-one package.. awesome

Now you give this person the money, he'll spend it on tourism. The people there working (remember you need more people) now earn income
and can spend the money at groceries, buying a bike, etc..

Now the money is rotating in economy and economy grows and thus GDP grows..

Simplistic view from me on economy why pumping in money into economy doesn't mean economy actually grows..
