They have it all covered up now, but I remember my Grandpa describing the horrors of vast waves of Polish cavalry charging right up to the outskirts of both Berlin and Moscow. The Polish horde finally managed to crush Germany, but we all owe a debt of gratitude to the Russians for defeating such a menace to freedom!

History is written by winners, huh..... IIRC, the so-called "Polish cavalry charge against tank" is just an invention of the German propaganda of the time. Polish Horsemen did charge infantry, & did put it in pieces, when the panzers did appear. They were not stupid enough to keep the fight, & did break up as quick as possible.

But the charge against panzer is more sexy, so that's what everyone remembers

I am not sure why there is such a dust up over this. The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was an act of survival for the Soviets -- they were not prepared to face the Germans in 1939.

Poland threw in thier lot with the Western Allies who were in no position to come to the aid of Poland.

While everyone can agree that 70 years ago today there was a huge tradgedy that started. However, in hindsight, it would have seemed pragmatic for Poland to find a diplomatic solution with Germany in '38. They may have delayed the outbreak of the war for a few months or a year or more -- things may have turned out completely different.

They werent prepared to face the germans when they came knocking anyway.

Putin does make a great point about how Europes appeasement of Hitler helped things along, he should have also mentioned though, how the US isolationism did also.

The only one who really is to blame for Hitler,is Hitler.That said,there are plenty more to blame for their actions in allowing him to become what he became, and do what he did.That they didnt fully oppose him much sooner is their part in this that they are responsible for.

Well they tryed about 48 times to kill him. (about 15 atleast from Germany including officers and generals trying to kill him.)And they all failed. First 19 were in time of 1934-1939. Some tryed with pistols when hitler was in military parade but failed,Some tried time bombs but hitler acidentaly changed time of hes speech so it exploded earlier,or even groups with sub-machine guns trying to kill him but they all failed (which is very strange.) All it was happent to Hitler are minor injuries. And at end he killed his self at end. So bastard was lucky
