Sandbox mode - Mengjiang merged with China in 1940 and 1941

Post by vahadar »

Historically wrong, Mengjiang was puppet state of Japan until 1945. Merging it in 1940 with nationalist China makes no sense since it falls into the ennemy zone of Japan.

Mengjiang was merged in the Reorganized National Government of China (puppet of Japan) in 1941 but remaned autonomous.

It was definitly not within Kuomintang China in 1940 and 41 :)

You should check the list of Japan puppets state and chronology here :

Is Mengjiang just being absorbed into China due to war?

That's what happens with me, China runs over Japan when you start without units ... due to the extremely low number of land manufacturing that Japan has.

Mengjiang doesn't merge it just gets eaten ..

I should add that the two provinces normally associated with China (Shanxi and Chahar) were still viewed as part of China, as the source notes: The military government operated under Chinese sovereignty, but Japanese control...the latter because of the Japanese Army's defeat of the local warlord in these provinces.

Were it not for the defeat of these warlords, the two provinces would have remained outside the Great Wall divide between Chinese and Japanese forces. Most of the Japanese military forces in Shanxi and Chahar after their incorporation into a Japanese puppet state were small, until after the Maro Polo Bridge incident - forces mostly being former-militia of the warlords. [Detailed numbers to follow on another post.]
