Disabling Aircraft from Supplying Ships

Post by SGTscuba »

Balth asked me to copy this from the discord.

Could it be an option to turn off the ability of helicopters to resupply ships please? So that the supplies can be saved for any landing operations. It's quite annoying to land them on assault ships, and then the ships to get to the destination to then find the heli's out of supplies and then unable to resupply the landed troops.
Balth wrote:My suggestion would solve that unless the other boats were in the same hex/ZoC. It would only resupply boats without carrier capacity.
Although not really a solution for me though as the assault ships usually have escorts with them.

What about fixed wing supply aircraft? Thoughts?
Anybody else got thoughts on this?

I have never noticed that being an issue. But it could be because my helo's usually have Green Berets in them. But I was certain they still had supplies equal to the unused cargo space left in helo.

No, I double checked, they supply ships. Green Berets have high ammo time so you probably never noticed. (I use them too sometimes). Makes it impossible to use early helos for supply runs from carriers after a landing.

Multiselect while in reserve is problematic. If you have suggestions on how we could support this, I'd suggest starting a new thread of discussion. You're comment is likely to get lost in this thread as you're off topic.

How about a general button "resupply: yes/no" for all units, which resupply?

Yes, that would be ideal, either that or an option via the RoE like we have for other things.

I am aware helo's supply ships. What I am typing is I have never had an issue where my helo ran out of supplies because of it. I do not doubt you are having issues, I am attempting to understand what you and I are doing different to not get the same outcome.

Here is my method;

Unreserve an LHA/LHD type
Load GB's into helo
Land Helo on ship
Add ship into task force which most times included a AOR (Oiler Replenishment/Supply type)
sail to destination

Are you using a particular ship to ferry the helo? I am interested in its range. I mostly utilize USA ships perhaps they have greater range than what you are using?

NOTE: adding a toggle as you request is ok with me, options generally are always good. The curious thing to me is looking at the age of the game, (SR2020 worked exactly the same way), I do not recall anyone ever complaining of this before. Throw in I have never had that situation and you can understand my curiosity.
