I remember snickering to myself in sr2010 when i saw the tourism percentage and wondering just who these nuts were who were visiting regions involved in brutal bloody wars in which entire cities were destroyed.
And also thinking "well, at least they ( the tourists visiting cities be directly shelled) are unlikely to get the chance to breed"

undecided if tourism and service upgrades can be built, are only pre-existing, or occur based on economic/political conditions. Think of the New York business district, it was not built all at once as a business district, it grew out of it's on needs and capabilities. We may try and simulate that.
Of course the counter argument would be that service GDP also represents things like "call center farms" and countries like India are actively building these, so we need to examine this a bit more...

You know how people enjoy turning low-tech regions into powerhouses; if service industry demand and capacity didn't change with GDP/c and tech level and so on, it wouldn't really be any more realistic--nothing gained from seeing it static on the map.Balthagor wrote:undecided if tourism and service upgrades can be built, are only pre-existing, or occur based on economic/political conditions. "well, both had a GDP% affect in the old system, so now it can be tied something on map that can be lost/captured."
how much is this percentage? what is the exact function of business and tourism buildings?

It's added into the many things that affect GDP/c. I don't have exact numbers.

tourist attractions and business districts have not a "specialty" or "stereotype" in the .units file. So how AI recognizes them as to give their gdp bonus? Is unit code 21102 and 21103 tied with their specialty?
another point is that gdp can be given in cvp. file. Given value is not changed if the country has such facilities. So is it truly affected or we wrongly believe that this feature is active?

It's hard coded to those facility IDs.
