Incredible "Turn" times - whats normal?

Post by Ozi »

Just tried a SR2020 Gold game after not playing for a Long Long time. I noticed that each turn (day) takes my cpu 45 seconds on gastest Setting. That makes 22 Minutes for a month or 4,5 hours for a year... on FASTEST Setting.
I was just wondering if thats normal or sth i missed...

Im playing latest Gold Version with a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition (a 6 core workhorse). Shouldnt it be faster? Way way way faster?

Nothing wrong, that is just how it is. I believe there is/was a MOD to make it even faster? However the 1936 version is much better in that regard.

True, but it has other, significant and imo gamebreaking flaws atm...

I also had "forgotten" how long each day takes in 2020. But after the shock wore off I remembered I used to leave the game running over night with pause is war declared turned on. This allowed time to pass as I slept and industries were being built etc. Some naval building could take 2 years to complete as I recall and Fusion Reactors, if memory serves was a year.

This can be a liability if you are playing a large country, but it is a boon if playing a small one. I find when playing a small country the slow time passage gives me the opportunity to make multiple trade deals a day that can keep my otherwise impoverished nation afloat.
