I invaded a small island, and was immediately engulfed in a freaking huge amount of bombardment attacks from unseen foes.I seriously doubt they have that much art on this little island ,AND much of the attacks seem to be coming from off shore.

K, i think i figured this out,the Ai appears to be using its navy more. In current session with fog off, i saw the ai send a bunch of ships off the coast of one of my beachheads and sit there bombarding for quite a while.
