lose all your occupying troops when you conquer a planet ?

When you take possession of a planet from those dam dirty aliens, you get 2 choices ,liberate and colonize....Colonize appears to result in all your troops on the planet becoming allied troops under the control of the new colony....

We hadn't found this bug yet, but we were working in relevant code blocks...

aaarrrggghhhhhh , i spoke too soon. I loaded up my save, and all my troops had changed to allied troops, and all their troops stayed theirs... had me confused for a a minute there..

Going to play in the saves and see what i can see.

Doesnt happen til a save after the regions fall is loaded ,and cant find a way to annex the region now...I see why,it thinks im the region that was conquered now....I can declare war on the earthers ,because it no longer has me as an earther...

K, fortunately for me,i had one save right before the fall, one save at the time of the fall, and one save after the fall.The one save at the time of the fall has my troops switched to an unknown allieds troops,the regions troops as the region, and my government and control set to the region.IE i am no longer an earther as mentioned above

fortunately the work around seems to be to annex the region after it falls but before i reload it from a save at that point or further long in the saves...

this means its not a game ender if you know the work around, AND that I have multiple saves for you to examine and see whats going wrong.... yay...

i was trying to test on a major faction, spent days trying to defeat a major faction since the last patch,and though its clearly possible ,its a bloody attrition war ,where breaking their back takes a REALLY long time in almost constant battle...HUGE battle often, that can cause lockups and crashes. The amount of troops ,between what you need to land and what they throw at you is freaking huge.And you lose the ability to control your troops usually around the landing of transport stack 8 or so...

The pirate worlds are still walk overs though, and now can be defeated, So i used one of them as a test.
After you win, you select colonize,then save the game. Now reload the game and all your invasions troops are now allied troops ,of which you have zero control over, and all the surviving enemy troops become yours to command, though they still are named as the enemy factions troops. In this case they are still named pirate troops, but you have full control over them.

I see what you mean. When I conquer the planet and colonize them, my troops can't be controlled as the colony because I am technically not the parent region anymore. In the top right where you see the colony emblem and the primary race emblem if you single click the primary races emblem it will make them the focused region. Then you can freely control your own troops again. Let me know if this "fixes" what you've noticed. I have felt it's a bit hard to tell how to control them too. I had to play around with things in order to discover you can switch between the two

AAAAAaaahhhhhhhhhh, thats the ticket.So chalk it up to user error. And now that i know how this works, i really like it.

Perhaps though,make it so it doesnt auto switch upon defeat of the world, and throw a popup then explaining that you can switch between control factions and how ?
