Performance Issues

Post by Virtokaii »

The game's biggest drawback for me is it's sluggish performance, turns just take forever. Is this a common problem? Also, what component would help improve the game's performance most?

Processor: Centrino 1.6GHz
RAM: 512mb
GPU: ATI 9200 Mobility (64mb)
Free Disk Space: varies, currently 900mb (system partition) and 1.7GB on the other partition.

On the big maps like world, ww3 ,ww4 etc...I dont know if anything will help in a long game.

I do know that more ram helps somewhat, as does a vid card with more juice on the smaller maps.

Ive got a 3.4 intel
1 gig of ram
512 mb x1600 video card

And i still notice a large slow down on the larger maps, especially in long games.

one thing I would suggest is that you turn off the visual display of unit paths (hit shift-p) when your moving large army's that can help a huge amount.

My system is:

Inte Core2Duo 2.0Ghz
2 Gbs Ram
256Mb ATI X2500
And quite alot of free Hard drive space.

That handles the game fine at all levels except when there are huge armies.
All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.

There are a couple of performance hints in the readme file (for instance, the shift-P to turn off the paths as mentioned).

Adding more RAM would also be a big boost for most systems - moving to 1GB would likely improve things a bit.
