Kiss BattleGoat's Butt Thread
Hey all I just wanted to say a big thanks to BG.
As far as I am concerned the game is very playable right now and I am having a lot of fun with it.
On top of that BG is soliciting enhancement requests. How many games have you played where, after release, the developers are actively asking how they can improve the game for you? Not too many.
Usually you get a couple of bug fix/game balance patches and then that is it.
Thanks again BG and keep up the terrific work.
Oh yeah, show this to your bosses. You all deserve a raise!

I agree. Can't wait to get the full game.
It seems to make good business sense to me that developers should want to build up a reputation for supporting their games by releasing patches and adding extras where they can, and perhaps the most important thing -- taking the time to listen to complaints & suggestions and doing their best to make a game better. Customers appreciate this and will be more loyal when it comes to buying any other products that are released.
There are certain games companies who i will never buy from again who practice the complete opposite.

First off, I nominate this thread for the "best title ever" award.
BG deserves points for making the rare game that's both ambitious and not completely broken at the same time. It's easy to get caught up about what isn't in the game or is unbalanced, but in short the game is very impressive at this point considering that almost all strategy games need a fair amount of time and patching to "age".
I mean, if what I hear is true, HOI needed tons of patches and even a sequal to get to get to the point of playable.

I have to agree with Daikyu in thanking Battlegoat Studios, even though I am new to it and Supreme Ruler 2010. I respect any small developer that tries to compete with the larger competition out there, so its cool to support a game such as this.
Besides, how can you not love a studio called Battlegoat?
I have no idea how I'm going to do with Supreme Ruler, but regardless I'm sure it will be and is a great game. Dabbled with the demo, and got the full copy today. Hopefully the AI won't make me feel like I have the intelligence of a single celled organism, but I'll probably have fun finding out.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see what patches and updates do, in fact, appear.
Even so, they've taken on a big subject and made an interesting game with it. It certainly trashes the only other offering of this nature we've seen in the last few years.
Hopefully, like Paradox with EU and EU2, they'll go on to expand on a solid game to make an all-time classic.

Well, I'm not sure I'd go *quite* that far...
But yeah, usually I hate these kind of games. I really have to hand it to BattleGoat for creating a game that sucked me into its vortex. As of now, I've gotten more hours played and more fun out of the demo than most full priced games. And I'm anxiously awaiting amazon.fr to confirm that my copy is on its way!

I will get the game eventually, even if after asking every retailer and even distributor in Australia , I have to resort to(for the first time) buying online. That said I obviously have hugh expectations for it but even if they are not met I see battlegoat attracting my interest in the future for simply having exciting innovative ideas from another developer.
Hopefully the ideas can be built upon and learnt from to produce another paradox quality developer. EDIT= stupid comment, my next post should make up for this

In comparing Battlegoat to Paradox, you are both paying Battlegoat a big compliment and perhaps also overlooking something important about them. The compliment is that Battlegoat has obviously decided to emulate Paradox's sophistication and depth of games, as well as their responsiveness to its customers. But what this comparison overlooks is that Paradox took several years to to get to the point of comparatively polished releases and sophisticated play that Battlegoat hit on its first try! Only with Paradox's most recent release, Hearts of Iron II, did they release a game that was completely playable out of the box.

Once BGS have added convert ops (intel/counter-intel) and beefed up the diplomacy side of things, then i think they'll be on to a real winner with SR2010.
The only side of the game i am a little disappointed in is the military aspect of the game. Considering that SR2010 is predominately geared towards you having to face military conflict at some stage, when you do, it feels a little less fleshed out compared to some of the other features, although most of these issues are currently mentioned in the update #3 threads.

The scope of military options in regards to unit range, type, attributes, abilities and possiable combination to form tactics as well as, the use of hexs, instead of big regions or squares, and capabilities to wage industrial warfare or war on enemy cililivians makes this the best concept for any war game to date and further the graphics in comparision to the detail of the game are good and I am told the interface is pretty easy to use. How exactly it plays I cannot yet comment on (again no demo currently trying to get retail ver offline) but I doubt very much that I won't enjoy this games warfare.
Finally unlike WWII strategy games including paradoxs HOI in concept,(again can't coment on execution.) there not only much weaker anyway but this game hasn't been able to draw upon warfare ideas from a saturated market as there isn't much modern RTS out there(deffinetly none worth mention) especially not ones which are grand strategy games.
I haven't seen a descent wargame let alone grand strategy game carry such good graphics, if it has anything close to the detail of this game. Actually I liked Victoria, EUII, HOI II and Crusader Kings from paradox(good interface + graphics) but as far as military options they are completely outclassed. If the only problems in this game are mentioned on the post, I can't believe how undervalued this game is as I heard peope say HOI II had better warfare system. No way, unless ofcourse there are twice as many things wrong then are currently mentioned on any post!
Also alot of people complimenting the devs are also undervaluing the game as someone pointed out to me, when comparing BG to paradox. But he didn't go far enough, he mentioned BG producing good game out of box (which he said took paradox several years) but didn't mention this game is bigger than the paradox games scope.
