I found a post from last Spring about EW and it wasn't in the game at that time. Looking over the aircraft list I saw a couple of aircraft that have been used as EW/ jamming platforms such as the F-111 (or the EA-6 for another real-world example). Looking at how complex the current military options are, is it possible to implement a small EW element? Even if it simply reducing the profile of strike aircraft accompynied by jamming aircraft, an EW element would add a little more flavor to planning air missions and defenses (my apology to the hardcore realists on the board- you guys can use your knowledge to determine feasibility and specs.)

I know it is late in development and it may not be worth the time to implement, but please consider it if it is not currently featured.

In theory, the engine already supports electronic warfare aircraft. They are still missing any effect though. The idea is that anything like the EA-6B makes it's self very visible when jamming enemy signals. So any EW planes are set to a stealth strength of zero so that they are always visible if with line of sight range. They are intended to increase the stealth strength of units within their radius. The only question that remains is will the effect be programmed in before release. We still have high hopes for this feature and I for one am determined to see it done in time. So check back in another month or two, it is still likely to be one of the later items to be implimented.

One ground-based EW unit to consider for addition is the US Army's Prophet System. It does both ES and EA and is HMMWV-mounted, 3-6 systems deployed on an EW baseline. It is essentially what DS MI Battalions of the IDs are/will be using for EW Ops.

Are these Prophet systems signal locators/jammers, ELINT or something else?

The Prophet Ground is used primarily for EW SIGINT emitter detection (COMINT, radars, jammers, etc.) for the purpose of collection and exploitation. Operators do COMINT intercept for real time intel and enemy unit id, DF's and fixes emitter locations (ES)(hence the baseline), and also performs jamming missions (EA).

It basically combined the TRQ, TSQ, and TLQ systems that the Army is phasing out and is currently being fielded throughout the divisions to be completed by 2005 IIRC.

EDIT: It could probably have an ELINT package as an upgrade but the Army still relies on it's airborne collection assets for that i.e. Guardrail.

Wow. You wouldn't happen to be in the 98 series MOS would you? 98G... Just curious. All the talk about TRQ and TSQ.... sounds very "MI-ish".

By the way, everything I posted previously is open source in case anyone thinks I have completely lost my mind.

EDIT: In context of the game, however, I thought it might be a good unit to add since I couldn't find any ground-based assets of this type in the unit list.

DOUBLE EDIT: Of a non-recon type anyway...

Good Save... I was just dialing the last digit of "1-800-SAEDA" when I read your post. Don't worry, I don't think you said anything that your pals down at GoodBuddy Air Force base would object to. Good advertising for them, if nothing else. By the way, did you see the Army commercial with Specialist ????, MI soldier? You know... "you have apaches in the air on the way to hit the tank unit that Spc. Shmoe single handedly found and only 2 nanoseconds to make a decision".... "What do you do"? He he.... Of all the things that MI really does that would make a cool commercial- I think they could have done better.
