Use the 'Check for Updates' in your SR2010 Program Group to locate & download the update.

WHAT'S NEW IN UPDATE 5

Version 4.5.3

New Scenario
--> WWIII – World War III: The world is divided into 31 playable nation states. … World War III has begun. Take control of one of the remaining world powers as the peace surely cannot last. … In-depth story and map, notes and emails were created and written by Chris Latour.
--> European Wars: Play Europe with 31 indenpendent countries. The Battle for Europe is on!

New Missions
--> Cuban Crisis 2010 … Capture the entire island of Cuba within 18 months…
--> Operation Shamrock …Completely capture the country of Ireland within 18 months…
--> Breaking Point. – Designed and Submitted by forum user Red. … Lead a dangerously-overextended Germany to safety.

New Groupings
--> World scenario. … Americas versus the World AND Triple Threat … Submitted by Eric Larsen – These groupings allow players to play the World map with fewer and larger regions.
--> US North West Scenario… Western Powers
--> United States Scenario … All North America … Now you can play with a United Canada, The Caribbean, Mexico and Central America against 28 weaker divided US states.

New unit additions
--> 60 new units, 7 new unit pictures. This newest batch allows players to research more units as they progress through tech levels.

Reference Card
---> Now included: a single page printable PDF poster listed several of our in-game icons such as unit classes, facility types and more. You should find the link in the Supreme Ruler program group.

Game Improvements / Fixes
--> Tech tree updated to remove mention of unimplemented tech effects
--> Icon spin rate now capped in unit popup window
--> Units suffer penalties if transiting in war-declaration region
--> 'Path Around' region now supported
--> Fixed WM Water / Boat Pathing & return-to-base issues
--> Major improvements in Missile firing rate, especially from planes
--> Fixes & Improvements to Treaty and Trade Cancellations
--> Fixed issue where AI would refuse some very attractive trades
--> Missile "launch authority" is now limited to reasonable ranges
--> Partisans & Guerillas (non-loyal areas etc) implemented

--> Carrier Stacking issue fixed
--> Locked-out minister no longer removes from market unless priority set

My check for updates worked fine.
I found two US research unit Avatar problems: they were white squares.

The WWIII scenario looks like it'll be closer to the type of game many have hoped for. Thanks. Will be busy for some time. :-)

Thanks for the comments guys - I think we've put in a fair bit of goodies into this update, so hopefully everyone gets a little something they wanted :-)

One of my personal favorites is the new missile handling for planes, it makes using smart bombs much more effective and lethal. The only problem is you run out of the darn things so fast when you start using them :wink:

Make sure any bugs and oddities are posted in the Bugs section, we want to jump on them pretty quick, especially with our European customers just coming on line.

BTW, I think I forgot to mention, but Update 5 works for:

- Original North American (Boxed) Version
- Digital Download Version
- European (BlackBean) Version
- Polish (Nicholas Games) Version

The only version it does not work for is the Russian Version, since the Russian publisher (Akella) customized the code and made it incompatible with our update system.

One other comment I'd make is that there were a number of significant 'under the hood' re-writes with this update, many of which resulted in performance improvments and greater responsiveness of units. However, such big changes can also result in unexpected bugs in areas that used to work just fine. While this has been a very extensively tested update from our side, with the last 'big' internal change made almost two months ago and tested since, the possibility of suprise issues exists. Be sure to post anything you find in the bugs and issues sections.

Looks like a happy 4th after all. I just reached tech level 124 as the World Union with over 5.95 billion happy campers and a $100 trillion annual income. Now I've got the update to download. Thanks for fixing the turn based time slip. Looks like some nifty stuff included. I look forward to the better missile handling.

Did someone update the printable website unit list yet? I sure hope to see what new goodies have been added.

Thanks for including my World level groupings. I've been chafing at the bit to play the Americas versus the World grouping variant as the Americas and make a super AI opponent now that I see I can give it stuff to research.

To anyone who was tried it yet, how does the enemy unit AI look? I'm about to boot the game up, I'll see how it goes.

Thank you for work made with this new update and once again i express my opinion that this game is very nice.

Just downloaded and i'm going to check new improvements.

Surely as before updates gems improves in better way ;)

You mean the only military equipment list? Not yet, I'll be working on that tomorrow. I've got a note about it. I did some prep work ahead of time but am out of the office much of today so won't be able to get to it.
