Well, actually, we won't be able to do this every day... but with our equipment list getting more and more complete, I thought it might be interesting to get some ideas of military units that people out there like and/or have an interest in, and in response we'll post our in-game unit pic and list some of the unit's details or specs from the game. It would also give us some feedback on whether our decisions on unit specs make sense to people or not.

So, calling for nominations.... what military equipment would you like us to talk about?

Hmm, I'd like to see the game stats on one of those new Nimitz Carriers like the Lincoln or Washington.

OK, how about starting with something that we've actually worked on already

Doesn't anybody like tanks anymore? Recons? Infantry fighting vehicles? Artillery?

I'll see what we have for carriers so far, but we should start with something a little smaller - any more suggestions?

Smaller than a carrier?
No problem

How about the SSBN Ohio?

If this isnt small enough I would also settle for the TU 16 Tupolev.

Another plane Im interested in would be the
Eurofighter 2000.

Other units of interest include:
Panzerhaubitze 2000
WS-1B
2S1 Gvozdika

How about some of the new FCS vehicles (LAVs) based on the Stryker chassis.

I'd more interested in the smallest boat you can fit a missile on.

Ahhh, some excellent choices! I'll start with one of Chris' favorites, possibly only because it has a funny name....

PzH-2000 Panzerhaubitze
Type: 155MM SELF PROPELLED HOWITZER
Origin: Europe (Germany)
In-Game Availability: 1998 Tech Level
Unit Info: 18 units per Battalion; crew of 5
Cost Per Battalion $ 162 million (US); 32 days to build/train
Movement: 60 km/h speed, 420 km per fuel load
Indirect Fire Range: 40 km (52 caliber gun)
Attack Values: Mid-High (in-game rating 32 Soft Target, 24 Hard Target)
Defense Values: Low-Mid (in-game rating 12 Ground Defense, good for Armoured Artillery)

General Description: A bit expensive to build, but generally the best all-around tracked artillery unit until the Crusader becomes available at tech-year 2008. The higher cost and longer build-times may make it more popular in the wealthier regions, however.

Here's the next one - we had requests for both the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Eurofighter 2000, which conveniently happen to be the same plane.

Eurofighter EF-2000 "Typhoon"
Type: Fighter Multi-Role (Interceptor/Bomber)
Origin: Europe (Germany/UK/Italy/Spain)
In-Game Availability: 2003 Tech Level
Unit Info: 18 planes per Squadron; crew of 1
Cost Per Squadron $ 981 million (US); 108 days to build/train
Movement: 2125 km/h speed, Combat Radius 600 km (low alt) / 1400 km (high alt) per fuel load
Ground Attack Range: 8 km
Air Attack Range: 100 km (Sidewinder/AMRAAM)
Attack Values: High (in-game rating 26 Soft Target, 34 Hard Target, 44 Helicopters, 46 Mid-level Air)
Defense Values: High (in-game rating 46 Ground Defense, 32 Air Defense)

General Description: European "next generation" multi-role fighter. A high performance, twin-engine design that also incorporates the latest in onboard electronics and counter-measures. Less expensive than the US F-22 and French Rafale.

Cool

I have a little question:

Can the Eurofighter fire the "Storm Shadow" cruisse missile?

Not the version listed. There will be the ability to refit the Eurofighter as to a Fighter/Bomber version that will have less air to air capabilities but will get a "missile capacity" to carry Storm Shadows. The Storm Shadow is already in the missile list.

Here's our next Unit Highlight:

STRYKER ICV Infantry Carrier Vehicle
Type: Armoured Personnel Carrier
Origin: USA and Canada
In-Game Availability: 2002 Tech Level
RC (Recon) Variant at 2005
MGS (Mobile Gun System) Anti-Tank Variant in 2005
Unit Info: 54 units per Battalion; crew of 11 (2 crew & 9 Infantry Squad)
Cost Per Battalion $ 108 million (US); 17 days to build/train
Movement: 100 km/h speed, 500 km per fuel load
Attack Values: Infantry Mid-range (in-game rating 22 Soft Target, 18 Hard Target)
Defense Values: Infantry Mid-High (in-game rating 24 Ground Defense)

General Description: A US/Canadian built multi-purpose infantry carrier, based on the LAV III design (originally from the Piranha III from Switzerland). This 8-wheeled vehicle is designed to be fast enough to keep up with highly mobile formations over rough terrain, and also to be air transportable on C-5, C-17 and C-130 air transports. Not meant to be as strong or replace the M2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle, it is instead meant to be more mobile and versatile.

The Anti-Tank MGS variant features a 105mm low-profile gun.
