GR v.654 - Naming of Transports
For this next version, I've renamed Troopships/Cargo Ships to Short Range Transport and Long Range Transport. It seems that the original designations caused confusion. I'd appreciate feedback on how we could improve this.
The idea is that you have access to small transports, not FTL capable for in system. Faster and cheaper to build, but can't FTL. Then you have the larger ships that you use across systems.
Thoughts?

Call the long range one an "FTL cargoship/transport", at least then its capability is in its name

Seems unnecessarily long and awkward.
With this new version, the FTL >>> symbol is very prominent in the list line.

Don't use transport and cargoship in the name, use one or the other, like FTL Transport.

Re: GR v.654 - Naming of Transports
I think the 2 different transport ships will be great to have, especially when managing units in a single system.
What if they were called
Galaxy Troopship for our Long Range Transports
and
Solar Troopships for our Short Range Transport
Sounds pretty spacey.

Actually a good (better) idea. Make it so!

Re: GR v.654 - Naming of Transports
Solar? That's discriminating against the habitant of the other systems
Seriously, now, System Transport vs Transport for military (smaller, armored, faster) and System Freighter vs Freighter for civilian (larger, unarmored, slower)
But as Balthagor said, if the FTL icon is very visible, the name might be redundant and pointless (I haven't played the new version yet)... And, if, several classes / sizes of transports are planned , then, the distinction of FTL capabilities in the name might become confusing again...
ETA,

Re: GR v.654 - Naming of Transports
I was thinking that Ceagan's name suggestions might be better as the names of the technologies that unlock these ships. If the thing you research to unlock it gives better details AND there is a clear FTL symbol, I think together we've got a solution.
