Re: 3D modelling
Indeed it is not a Shenyang J-31. The easiest way to tell them apart to me is that the J-31 is a twin engine aircraft.
The reason I am saying the F-35 is not all that obvious is that it is specifically a F-35A. The wings are smaller and cannot be folded like on the F-35C nor does it have the front mounted vertical lift thruster of the F-35B.
Sidenote: Yes I do plan on doing other F-35 variants. The F-35B in particular is just a retexture. F-35C as mentioned requires rebuilding the wings a bit.
If it will be ready for next set of models is harder to say.
Also if there are regional texture variants that should be made for any of these models feel free to bring them up. This would mainly be special cases like say representing a Mitsubishi F-1 with the SEPECAT Jaguar as they are visually similar (this is only an example though as I have already made a Mitsubishi F-1).
Finally
This one is a bit less obvious but likely not the most obscure I have.

Re: 3D modelling
It is a F-4D Skyray. This is probably one of the aircraft where I have the least practical reason to pick it. It is not exactly a historically important aircraft. I just happen to like the shape and colours. There are some pretty amazing colour schemes for these aircraft.
The Skyray really is a good example of why I wish each model could have multiple textures for a single region group assigned at random or something. I could easily see myself do 5 for it or the F-4 Phantom II. The F-15J is another example where I could make a whole lot of different versions.
Anyway December 8th.
It should be no secret that this is in fact not a frontline combat aircraft.

Re: 3D modelling
It is not a 777 or KC777 to be specific as aircraft 8 has both aerial refuelling pods on the wings and a boom.
If you look at the leading edge of the vertical stabiliser the root is a bit more strait on the 777 than this aircraft .
Also if you look at the wingtips of the 777 they are generally quite strait while on this one they are bend.
A quick question. For the finished model should the flying boom be extended or not? I guess extended makes it more visible but also makes it harder to use as anything but an aerial refuelling aircraft.

Re: 3D modelling
Indeed it is a A330 MRTT. I thought it would be a good supplement to the current selection of tanker aircraft that generally are quite US focused.
And the December 9th Aircraft. It should be fairly obvious that it is one of the older aircraft for this selection.
Please ignore the issues with the propeller blades. It will be fixed with the final version.

Re: 3D modelling
Yup, too easy.
Maybe a Swedish Tunnan might be good? Its Barrel by name, barrel by nature.

Re: 3D modelling
While I agree exotic aircraft are fun they generally should also have some mainstream usage hence why i have also made aircraft like the F-35. That said I got a feeling the next few days are going to prove a bit more challenging.
As for barrel shaped aircraft we will have to see what happens. I do have something somewhat barrel shaped but that is planned for December 26th.

Aircraft 10. This one should be a bit harder.
December 11th and 12th should also be more difficult.

Re: 3D modelling
Interesting choice...could take a while to identify it...my bet is it's some kind of obscure prototype
(slightly resembled Heinkel long range bomber project from ww2 but that's not it )

Re: 3D modelling
Well scuba wanted something harder than the A6M so here we are. Okay seriously I actually started that model maybe 1,5 years ago as I think it can fulfil a role and not just to post something obscure. I did not even move it around either. I have always planned for it to be nr. 10.
This is probably the toughest model maybe together with 11, 12 and some of the post Christmas ones if I manage to get them finished in time. 18 Might also be challenging.
But yes it does resemble a 1945 Heinkel bomber project. Did that ever get a proper name? I have always heard it referred to as the 60 tonne bomber project.
It is not that Heinkel project although I do like it quite a bit.
Also just for the sake of "I can" here is an incomplete Typhoon class SSBN
