Amphibious units dropping out of merchant marines
If you put an amphibious-capable unit inside a merchant marine and sail one hex away from a bit of coastline then the unit "drops out". This is EXTREMELY ANNOYING. I don't normally shout but having to build literally dozens of sea piers on tiny uninhabited islands just to get my units back really takes the biscuit.

Happens a lot in tight corridors when you set an unload command the other side. For example when trying to support Entriea, it lands them on the island, and not on the coastline like you ordered. Its like they unload up first then move down, but because they are on an island it doesn't work.

Should I say anything else? No, I'll let it slide this time
EDIT: it was reported even earlier in September

Yeah this is griping me now too. Makes it understandable why the AI never seems to launch amphibious invasions I guess?
Hopefully there will someday be another update that addresses this.

FYI, this was fixed during SRGW development. I haven't seen it fail yet. Anyone able to test this a bit?

I did see ONE German marine drop out in the Kiel canal, but that was when I clicked "Move To" one of the Kiel tiles, not a destination on the other side of the canal.Balthagor wrote:FYI, this was fixed during SRGW development. I haven't seen it fail yet. Anyone able to test this a bit?
If memory serves, clicking a destination on the other side and they pass through without dropping.

Turn for of war on and you will see couple of regions with all their infantry on isolated islands 2 years in game. In vanilla you will see Japan have their infantry force most likely on their isolated islands (altho they are not even amphibious). Isolated greek islands and Spain are most likely 2 other spots with some infantry.
All fixed in my GOLD mod, because merchant marines will behave different.

Still issue, i see it all the time on Spain, Greece, Indonesia, Philipines and Japan. Even units without amphibious trait. Might as well remove those islands if only thing they do is cause problems. Noticed 1 weird thing, conquered Philipinnes, they had stack of regal tanks in one of those islands and i couldnt even load them up in a transport with amphiibious trait. Had to build a sea pier to get them out.

Re: Amphibious units dropping out of merchant marines
That's normal and intended afaik.
Amphib ships can unload any unit anywhere.
They can load any unit from a pier or port.
They can only load amphib units back in if not at a pier or port.
It's been like this since sr2010

Re: Amphibious units dropping out of merchant marines
Well they can load infantry units without amphibious trait, transport ships dont even have to have the trait, just load them up. 1 more nation, Thailand also got islands like that.
