Yup, thats what I tought :D, was going to se if someone verified it or disclaimed it or something :P to get some perspective into this discussion. I find that many in the west are missing, if not even missing the Russian point of view, which explains somethings if you can read between the lines. It's true that RT is comparable to Fox, both are propaganda type channels. Itar-tass seems more informative about events but I'm still skeptical of an good news source out of Russia in english. I have been watching the Vice news coverage of this conflict, even though their not unbiased they have managed to confirm that there are native protesters, but also Russian cossacks (supposedly volunteers) in eastern Ukraine. Propaganda channels usually tells alot of other things instead of the actual "truth" on the ground, like point of views. You can also question why they present their stories in the way they do etc. Which leads me to believe that Russia is actually reacting out of fear, as they se NATO as a very real security threat and not trustworthy (well NATO ain't inspiring trust among other world govs when you look at their actions on the political scale). This has basically locked Russia into a military mindset. On the other hand you have Ukraine 'poking a bear that feels scared and cornered', encouraged by the US and EU, which is plain stupidity in my opinion, considering the 'size of the bear'.

So what I'm wondering is, what's the endgame for the west in this match? They are loaning billions to Kiev and encouraging them to crack down on protesters and militants alike. Do they simply want to show Russia who is the bigger power, are they doing this for domestic purposes (EU elections coming up soon) or do they wan't to plainly harm the Russian economy?

My thinking is that the west defence companies win, lockheed as already said that the missiled defence system is being looked at by many european countries, and that that interest in the F35 as also increased, they needed a new bad guy and this all situation just came in handy. They did not cause the events in ukraine but they manipulated them so that it wold work out as they wanted (there was a article were it said that the CIA was "advising" the new kiev government)

Russia is now starting to exert direct pressure on Ukraine(and EU) with oil. Wonder how long Russia has waited to play the Oil card..
