Ok, I read in the wiki that the .mapx files are created with an editor not available to users, but the -oof files can be modified, my question is HOW?
How do you open the .oof files for editing and what can you do with them?
Can you add new cities?
New resources?
etc. etc.

Re: Editing map files
Ok, I managed to open the files using Exel.
It came up with a table for all the locations on map.
I have some problems figuring out what the different values mean.
Here´s what I have discovered so far:
Row 1: ID
Row 2: unknown
Row 3: X coordinate
Row 4: Y coordinate
Row 5: Location name
Row 6-15 : unknown
Can somebody please give me some explanations as to what the rows mean as there is no explanation in the file?

Re: Editing map files
I personally use notepad. You can add new structures and cities etc but not new resources. You cannot edit things like resources or population in a particular hex.Jopo wrote:Ok, I read in the wiki that the .mapx files are created with an editor not available to users, but the -oof files can be modified, my question is HOW?

Not sure about how it looks in excel. But in note pad its the followingJopo wrote:Ok, I managed to open the files using Exel.

Row 1: Building ID (number from the unit file for what structure is there)
Row 2: X coordinate
Row 3: Y coordinate
Row 4: Location Name
Row 5: unknown its always 0 so probably not used.
Row 6: Which spot in a hex this facility is in. 0-6.
Row 7+: Honestly have no idea.. I've seen no notable changes when editing these.

You can't thats part of the mapx file.. like I said in my earlier post you cannot modify population of specific hexes or resources.

Re: Editing map files
I have opened the .mapx file and found some mysterious symbols like "square box with question mark". I will try to edit these characters and see if something changes. Perhaps finally we will find a way to edit the map!
