I went to my first war with Egypt (playing as Italy). When my units attacked, they attacked infrastructure forcing me to rebuild everything.

I can see why attacking infrastructure is a good idea, but for this scenario I did not want to do it. I actually wanted Egypt to be a viable addition.

I would like to know if there is a way to easily stop all of my military from attacking infrastructure, or is it only possible unit-by-unit?

When I first played this game centruies ago I suffered the same problem. :-) I sent in artillery & BMPs hoping they wouldnt level the cities.....though they destroyed everything.

The best way to stop this is by using modern units. Everytime I use a modern unit, I check its fortification attack abilities (It is represented in the unit's personal statistics by a bomb charge puicture.) If its high, then you'll see cities infistructure get leveled. If its low or 0 (like all modern units are), then it will never be a problem. :-)

Also, If your worried about killing any civillians, check the fortification attack abilities aswell. Same method applies. If its high, then you'll see civillians get killed. If its low or 0 (like all modern units are), then it will never be a problem.

I hope this answered your question.Any further questions just ask! :-)

As far as I know the only ground unit where this is an issue is artry. Just do not use artillery against cities, problem solved.

I think the destroyers off the coast are doing it.

GIJoe has a point. Artillery is the largest issue because you really cant control them. You have to either keep them far back or not deploy them. (I hate artillery personaly).

As for destroyers, Im not sure if they can do much damage to cities unless they are armed with missles. Im sure they can pound a city alittle, but they usually will end up sunk if the destroyer is too close to the shore. (be cautious when arming your navy with missles)

Pretty much any ground unit that has an attack can damage cities ,cores and fabs while fighting units in them IF set to do so....id explain where the setting is, but i forget....

I think you are referring to setting which target types to engage (in a units ROE) tkobo

The biggest issue is anything that does indirect fire (aka Artillery, but other units have it as well), as they will damage anything in a target hex, infrastructure and units alike

Collateral damage!

If they resist my invasion I bomb them to the stoneage, artillery rules!

Airdrop units into the city cause less damage than artillery though.

Of course a naval bombardment is going to do damage to structures. :) I tend to set my naval vessels to NOT fire of ground units, otherwise they will pound a city to rubble trying to kill a garrison unit that has popped up. Now, this means I micromanagement my navy, but that's ok, I want to. I cannot bring myself to indiscriminately kill civilians.

Do you have to change that setting for every unit or is there a navy-wide setting that says not to bombard structures?

You can do it either way. Usually I may have 1 or 2 stacks of naval vessels providing air defense. I do not want them to fire into cities/facilities/structures. I grab both stacks and click off the land unit target function (Individual Unit ROE's) on just those 2 stacks. I do not do it universally, because there may be another fleet, for example, off the S coast of Iran. There are no facilities there to worry about so I want that fleet to fire on land based targets.

If you want it to be across the board, you can grab/box/rubber band etc. all navy ships and do the same, or;

Select a particular type of vessel, say the Zumwalt, then click add all types to get all of that particular design, or add all classes to get all Destroyers.

There are several ways you can do it.
