Id really like to see someone else try this.Actually,id like a lot of people to try it.I suspect the results will be the same, and we'll have that much more to point to when asking for another expansion to the unit trade system.
To me,if you cant get your units off the island in 10 years, something needs to be added....

I have an idea concerning the island campagin.
If you just got 1 patrol boat, (I take it these are more likely to be offered to you than inf and transports) it would be sufficient to got it into some warzone and just take a few sea hexes from the losing side.
Then, if you hold these when the contry itself falls, you might get some land or alot.
This happend to me while playing Japan and I got the northern half of North Korea.
If its possible, Venezuela would be candidate if they are at war with Brazil or Colombia or both.
You mentioned earlier that you were allied with at least Brazil.
Cuba would have been a perfect opportunity, but since the US already there I guess its too late.

Im not sure if Im stating the obvious here but this is what Id have done.

Keep trying, a lot of people want to see you succed.
The side stories btw are great fun reading and deserve their own posts.

Thats actually a good idea, and no reason why you couldnt take pier hexes, and even on occasion city hexes this way.But its not really the same .Although in the long run it accomplishes getting off the island, its doesnt test the trade systems ability to get ground units off the one hex island thru acquisition of transports via said trade system.

You could also use missiles to destroy an enemy from that one hex island.Thereby getting some new land that way.But agian, that doesnt address the trade system and its ability (or not) getting of land units off the island.

I have not given up, still running the game. As I typed before it is extremely slow now, even more so.
Current Date Oct 1, 2035 and still no offers of units.

I am however:
#2 in the world in GDP/C
# 4 in Tech (no idea how that is tech level is only 96)
#25 in diplo score

#10 world wide in total score. (throws up hands)

I will continue to let the game chug along until I get bored with it.

As far as the side updates go, those games are over also. (lost them in a Win7 upgrade due to me failing to save them, was only thinking about the main Grenadine game)

Nice offer, though quite late in game. Did you accept it? Could they deliver them or had the AI already move those units out of the barracks?

Lucky break, or was it? I would like to get some cargo ships, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

Although you do not have enough money to purchase them?

What I need, and I assume any 1 hex country needs, is troops AND the means to move them to an enemy. One or the other does no good at all. That's my current dilemma with Grenadines.

I feel compelled to point out I have no modifications at all with my games, they are as delivered from BG.

Maybe I should scrap this game and start it again, see if I also get those very good offers you seem to get all the time.

Yep and I went ahead and built a barracks early also.

One of the screenies shows them sitting in the reserves, I didnt hinder myself in this expirement by using my normal house rules of not selling unit designs or Techs. I didnt go overboard , I just sold enough at a time to keep my construction projects going and to finalize any unit deals that came my way. BTW, I added 2 other screenies that I missed , both were land unit deals.

I am thinking that maybe you were not lucky, I was just unlucky. It seems by the volume of offers you received it is a rather normal event.

Might the first offer I received not completing have influenced the event in any way?

I also wonder if the country's starting relationships have any influence. I think I will continue to let my current game run for a bit more to see what happens.

I would be more likely to believe its "situational" more than luck.Next person to try should build all three (barracks, pier and airfield) and see if the results are the same.Canada is a very likely unit trade source,IF it doesnt go to war with the US.So cultivate good relations with them.

I wouldnt be suprised at all if this ended up like much of the game, in that once understood,it wasnt hard to have happen.

Dunno and I only took a few screenshots of the missiles offers, I have over 120 missiles mostly anti ship but did get some Tomahawks. Missile trades have always seemed to be the most numerous in my games so if your not getting those maybe its that or quite possible the game settings.

My settings were Medium Volitility, Normal Economic and Diplomatic, Very Hard Military, High Approval, and Very High Randon Events. I also have the minister priority set to make unit trades also.

I only made a few formal alliances but I did try to make Free Trade Agreements with every region I could as ealry as possible. I also made Free Flow of Labor Agreements with the lower GDP/c regions and the Criminal Extradition Treaty with everyone.

Well there is a show stopper for me right there, I will not have the minister toggled to do anything, ever.

When I start another try, I will build a barracks and airfield right off. I mistakenly deemed it necessary to build food and water facilities.
