"May we live in interesting times"
Its incredibly hard to sum up how adverse this is to america.Conventional wisdom says a huge amount of politicians just jumped off a cliff to follow an ideology the nations founders could not have been more clear on being set against. Is it just another battle lost for the identity of the country ?Will nov elections show people have learned the required lesson, that a nations own politicians can be more harmful to it than an outside force ?

How many people really reconize the road they are being pushed down, and where it leads .....

With each step down, turning back becomes that much harder. You only get so many mistakes before failure becomes unavoidable. How much closer is the nation to that point now....

"Obi Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope..."

Actually our main hopeful glimmer is that the Dems put the Carrot before the Stick. There are no major entitlements that take effect before 2014, while the taxes, fees and restrictions all take effect the instant Obama signs the bill into law. This is the Democrats very own "thermal exhaust port". It should keep public resentment high enough to taint the Dems through 2012. We shall see.

However, I tend to agree with Tkobo. Learning lessons from mistakes like this is all well and good, but sooner or later we are going to learn a lesson similar to "When your car is stuck on train tracks with a train coming, Get Out of the Car!". Unfortunately learning some lessons the hard way does not offer you a second chance to show off your new found knowledge.

http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/03/23/hea ... it/?hpt=T1
Officials from 14 states have gone to court to block the historic overhaul of the U.S. health care system that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, arguing the law's requirement that individuals buy health insurance violates the Constitution.
Which of course it does. And theres circa 20 other states challenging the this law in other ways.
Separately, legislatures in three dozen states are considering proposed legislation aimed at blocking elements of the health care bill.
And its growing.

Hmmmm All it would take is 66% of the State Legislatures to initiate a Constitutional amendment action. Not that I think we need to ban government health care through an amendment.

Also, one of their big celebratory boasts...
"This is a patient's bill of rights on steroids," the president (Obama) said Friday at George Mason University in Virginia. "Starting this year, thousands of uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance, some for the very first time. Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."

And Saturday, addressing House Democrats as they approached a make-or-break vote on the bill, Obama said: "This year ... parents who are worried about getting coverage for their children with pre-existing conditions now are assured that insurance companies have to give them coverage – this year."
Full protection for children would not come until 2014, said Kate Cyrul, a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation.
Lying sack of crap.

Would some coverage begin this year? If so, he's no more guilty (or innocent) than any other politician out there playing the spin game.

I haven't looked at the details but would not be surprised to find a politician, even a president, playing with half-truths.

Kids that are already covered could not legally have their coverage dropped. So children that are already covered would be safe. I see your 1/2 truth point, but this is a real stretch. Some of his claims were outright lies.
"This year ... parents who are worried about getting coverage for their children with pre-existing conditions now are assured that insurance companies have to give them coverage – this year."
I would be less outraged if they had honestly gone after the single payer concept. This bill is a thinly disguised attack on the insurance companies, with the assumed strategy to be proposing single payer after they have crippled every other option. Sorta like a Cabby who flats all four of your tires and then pulls up to ask if you need a ride.

The Dems are trotting out their trusty "Race Card" for the five billionth time...

http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... hensible/1

...except it appears to be completely imaginary...

http://bigjournalism.com/abreitbart/201 ... more-40038

In this world of YouTube and video phones, the old school tricks just don't hold much water. If someone had actually shouted racial slurs at a group of black men, 1/2 of which were carrying vid phones and pointing them at the crowd, don't you think that we might have seen the evidence on the news?.... a few million times?

Lea wonders why I harbor the belief that the Progressives hate Americans who do not follow them. Perhaps it is because they keep calling us violent racists?

Obamacare can do anything! Not only will it crush those Ebil Insurance Companies, but it will start shoveling dirt into the hole that State's Rights have been thrown into...

Arizona isn't the only state that is going to have to eat the S**T sandwich. Perhaps we can start a list.

Yeah, Your sarcasm is very funny. Except that Arizona is already running a $3.2 Billion deficit for 2010. States are having enough problems dealing with budget crises that they brought on themselves, without Federal mandates adding billions more.

Just wait til the next "flu epidemic"...If this crap isnt repealed they will be able to order both the states and the people to buy the vaccinations,so next time they wont be stuck with millions of shots unused and unsold.
The states and the people will of course be faced with yet another bill from the government for that,on top of the ones they already cant pay.
AND----
Of course this will cause a problem for the socialist dictatorships like cuba, who wont be as likely to be given over 1 million vaccinations shots for free by the UN next time.As the UN and the US gov will be busy forcibly selling it to those who might actually pay for it

What does it have to do with USSR?
Of course, if you only expand system for all population you will pay proportionally more.
USSR health care was grounded on direct financing and control. There wasn't any super-incomes for doctors and lawyers. What has been made for this purpose? Perhaps will be fixed salary to doctors?
I am not surprised that some Americans call Obama as the communist. They don't understand meaning of that word. I believed that Turks live slightly closer and understand slightly better.

@Khan - Sorry for the mistaken sarcasm.

Speaking of the Communist Block... http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Cuban-lea ... l?x=0&.v=1

The creator of THIS, just the person I want endorsing my newborn health care reform!

The O-ministration is in attack mode against companies that have reported huge $$ losses that will be connected with this new Law.
http://spectator.org/archives/2010/03/2 ... ude-denial
...Oh, and another thing that will be connected? Massive lay offs. None announced yet, but when huge companies take huge losses that will just keep coming year after year, they tend to trim some fat, or muscle, or even bone.

Who else will feel the financial pinch? Obama Voters

I wonder if this is one of those "Professionals" that Lea keeps telling me understand the Constitution so much better than I do.
