Listen to my madness...

While an Alliance Treaty is a great thing in this game I do believe that it, in an of itself, should not give reason for a regions military to be seen - especially SOF and submarine units (for example).

Everyone knows that too many units on the board slows the game to a crawl due to the AI's endless building patterns - IF the unit building issue cannot be corrected then I suggest that the TREATIES be revamped so that I cannot see every unit from allied regions and vice verse. Granted, this affects LOS and who knows what else but generally speaking I believe this suggestion may have grounds for a combined correction between several items in the game, compared to just one, to help improve performance and the unnecessary showing of enemy troops.

Any suggestions or comments?

Tony

Hiding units slows down the game, showing them makes it go faster.

The Fog of War slows down the game. Turning off the FoW speeds it up.

Why? Because in order to hide one unit and not another requires the Game engine to make additional decisions that burn up more CPU time. If you show everything then the decision is a "no-brainer" for the game engine.

I think there should be different types of alliances. Economic alliance(no taxation on trades between parties and enables freetrade), Military alliance(includes offencive version of the mutual defence treaty, and includes transit right), Mutual defence(a defencive military alliance, does only allow transit rights during war), Political union(merges two nations as one(in multiplayer they would allow player to co-govern the nation and break the treaty and breaking the country) and total alliance(includes all alliances).

I agree, especially about political union.

You know somthing like this would be doable via moding. Probly less then an hour. A bit more to make sure you got it all right. And then a cache to verify its working.

Can you make new treaties by modding?? and how well would it work?

you cant make new treaty effects. However the way you want it with a economic alliance, or a military alliance. basicaly what you would need todo is remove the current alliance (or make it void like they did the other other non usable treaties) Then put your own treaty in with the name that you want and then have it so you group the other treaties with it.
