As requested, a screenshot showing the stats of the M1211A2 125mm mortar. This is the unadjusted range, without V-LAP and ERFB-BB technologies. The range is 6 km longer than any North Korean tube artillery piece.

Image

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- Scientists in the freedom and peace-loving DPRK announced today that they have discovered a way to increase the range of our heroic defensive artillery corps by 40% using rocket-assisted ammunition. This will surely help our self-defense efforts in North America, where our glorious army is successfully fighting back the viscous imperialist capitalists!

Image

Our Dear Leader mentioned at a news conference last night that he has devised a master plan to end the war in the USA within the next 12 months and force an American surrender.

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- The National Denfense Commission has announced the beginning of the end for the imperialist gangster-states of America. Our mighty offensive into the heart of the USA is under way. Several key outposts and strongholds have already been taken.

Image

The cowardly enemy has concentrated his attacks on our spearhead, including a mass air strike with the remains of his feeble air force. The brave and courageous troops of the DPRK have proved unstoppable, however, and now stand just west of Oklahoma City.

Image

In light of the enormous number of American casualties incurred outside Fort Sill, our Dear Leader has proposed a temporary cease-fire to the USA in the name of humanity, so that both sides may take care of the wounded and prevent a humanitarian tragedy. Our Dear Leader has promised the USA that the DPRK will also take care of American wounded, wisely taking note of the American financial crisis.

--

While my spearhead was pushing into Oklahoma, the US AI decided to organise a congregation of my favourite mortar in Annapolis. They are clearly all headed towards Annapolis, not Washington D.C. as I first assumed. I have no idea what they are doing there. The AI appears to have given the "all units of this type" order, because they are coming from all over the country.

Image

What I don't have a screenshot of is the situation there now that they are all assembled - they are all in continuous movement because they are still trying to get into Annapolis, even though there must be thirty of them on the city hex already. Then they get pushed out again and try to move back in.

I still don't know what to make of the whole thing. At first, I assumed they were going to defend Washington D.C., but then why move them to Annapolis and not to D.C. direct? I thought I saw a few units disappearing when they reached Annapolis, as if they might have loaded into a ship. But where would those ships be going? Alaska? California? I'm pretty sure they won't try to attack Japan or Korea. Anyway, it's interesting.

By the way, the cease-fire has much to do with my spearhead being exhausted as well. I still do not understand why the AI sometimes makes no effort at all to defend an objective, and then suddenly fights like a lunatic. The battle for Fort Sill was a pretty incremental process - I'll sketch out how it went. First my troops took Altus, with very little resistance except the usual three garrisons plus one infantry unit. I was being bombarded with those angels of death again, so I retaliated with my four MAZ-791 stacks and sprayed Fort Sill liberally with No Dong missiles. During this phase (while my spearhead was still several dozens of kilometers from Fort Sill), the enemy moved his artillery from Fort Sill closer to my troops to engage them.

I advanced another few hexes, destroying the enemy artillery, sighting an M270 south of Fort Sill, which was destroyed by No Dong missiles immediately, and then finally came into direct contact with the enemy forces at Fort Sill and Lawton. At first it seemed quite simple. I would have two or three infantry units heavily damaged, but I would win the fight.

And then, gradually, the enemy began sending in reinforcements. Recon units, infantry and tanks, and then - also incrementally - the air force. I had - what? six? - stacks of SA-12bs, two stacks of MIM-14s (captured in Japan), but the enemy air force was simply overwhelming. There were so many aircraft in the sky that my ground troops depleted their ammunition firing at them, leaving them vulnerable to the enemy ground forces. Eventually, I had to send in my reserves, and then my 2nd tier of reserves, and then the flank guards, and then finally Fort Sill (after changing hands about seven times) was finally secured. The enemy ordered even more tanks into battle, including some in my now-weak flanks, and that was when I decided I needed a short break on the American Front.

I am not yet sure how I will proceed. I need to rebuild my spearhead forces, and I lost a lot of irreplacable (for the time being) units from Japan as well. The good news is that the American treasury is now deep into the red and certain to stay there. The number of US land fabrication facilities has also dropped for the first time, back to 86 (thanks to my capturing five of them). I must replace a large number of artillery units and also desperately need more modern tanks and infantry units on the front lines.

I will go on a shopping tour through Russia, China and Pakistan later to see what possibilities they give me at tech level 97. I will reach tech level 98 before the end of the ceasefire (I think!), maybe there are some options there as well.

The offensive has recommenced after a few months of refitting and rebuilding.

Image

New units in the DPRK arsenal are two North Korean variants of the Styx missile, and some imported designs, the most important being the BMP-3 and BTR-90, which now form the new main infantry units.

I have fallen deeply in love with Scud missiles. In fact I cannot believe how I ever managed without them. Facilities that hold large quantities of US aircraft or repairing ground units are now liberally bombarded with these ingenious stand-off weapons and then become easy targets for the ground forces.

Oklahoma City is mine now.

Oh, some things I forgot to mention...

I have also bought the MiG-29 SMT and I think one Su-27 version as well, but I am not building them yet. I find the MiG-25 to be much too useful to be building anything else now. The MiG-25 makes up half of my airforce in North America currently, the other half being F-15s captured from Japan and flown over via Alaska.

Also, the economy of China appears to be close to collapsing. India and Russia and Iran have the world's largest treasuries (at 4, 3 and 2 trillion accordingly), but China appears to be in trouble. Treasury has fallen to 200 billion and is getting lower. The USA are bankrupt of course, so that strategy worked out alright anyway.

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Defense Commission has announced that the glorious 100-days-Songun-Offensive undertaken by our glorious and courageous troops is right on track and has already crossed the Mississippi river in two places.

This is further proof that the decadent and weak gangster-states of America cannot hold up to the righteousness of the Korean worker-peasant soldier. Our Dear Leader has recently toured the frontlines personally and given guidance to field commanders on tactics and strategy. He called on all Korean soldiers to make one final effort to tear down the brutal clay giant USA.

I am noticing - with great satisfaction I might add! - that US military activity is decreasing, and the odds of battle are swinging in my favour. The largest recent battle was that for Camp Bowie, which I merely raided and did not bother to keep since keeping it would have required clearing the entire Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The USAF is a shadow of its former self, and appears only occasionally. The enemy counter-attacks, which are nearly exclusively performed by tanks (unlike previously), are getting very easy to ward off.

Perhaps the best sign of improving conditions is that I forgot all about sending reinforcements to the front until just a moment before the second screenshot, and found large stacks of infantry and tanks just waiting for despatch waiting at the production sites. I have not even bothered to send new forces over from Japan and Korea yet.

I am now confident that I can approach Washington with relative ease. There is only one minor obstacle in the way now - Nashville - after that it is relatively easy going. The battle for Washington itself, however, will probably be incredibly difficult. I am expecting much worse than Seoul or Tokyo... those guys didn't have M1211A2 mortars!

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- Comrade killerflood, chairman of the Nashville committee of the American-Korean-Friendship Organisation, welcomed DPRK troops as they liberated the city from the imperialists. He presented the commanding officer of the 921th Mechanized Corps with a flower bouquet and his best wishes for the continued offensive.

The American-Korean Friendship Organisation has been growing rapidly in recent months as more and more Americans see the truth behind the capitalist and imperialist lies of their so-called government.

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- Heroic and courageous soldiers of the DPRK today liberated Knoxville and Fort Knox, the infamous gold depository of the United States. Since most of the gold is stolen from workers and peasants, our Dear Leader has decreed that the gold will not be added to the Korean treasury or be used to fund an arbitrary purpose. Instead, it will be used to build a Golden Worker And Peasant People's Palace in Pyongyang.

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- A statement just issued by the National Defense Commission has confirmed that the glorious and invincible troops of the DPRK stand less than 500 km from Washinton D.C. and the lair of the gangster-government of the so-called United States of America.

Currently, progress is nearly too easy. I presume that will come to a sharp end once I close on Washington. There are six or seven barracks in the immediate vicinity, I know that there are dozens of those deadly mortar systems nearby (although I killed six which were sent south to meet me), and my forces are once again stretched thin.

Where is the USAF? I saw a few F-16s circling over a remote airfield, but didn't bother to engage them. The rest appears to be playing dead. Only helicopters are very active, particularly AH-64s and UH-60s. Naturally, they don't last very long in the face of the massive array of SAMs I am carrying around with me.

I leave you one more with a cliffhangar of sorts. I visit two European capitals in the next seven days, and will be back in approx. one week.

My advice may not be entirely relevant as I attacked the USA via Mexico And had a sustained front across 2/3 of the country, but I'll tell you anyway:
Washington Is not easy to take, simple as that. They stack every little city in the area with infantry, artillery, anti air, what little tanks they have left and there are always a fair few ships in the nearby bay.
As you said, there activity is decreasing, I also experienced this. Very soon they are going to pretty much stop all offensive operations upon you and will rarely even counter attack, it just becomes a mop-up operation.
And watch out for Canada when you reach the north border, they attacked me and Nearly drove me back to New York before I managed to get units together for a counter attack.

Hope that helps!

Pyongyang (KCNA) -- Our great and glorious forces have advanced to within less than one hundred kilometers from the imperialist city Washington D.C. The wise and skillful leadership of our expeditionary forces is developing a fail-safe plan to capture the city.

--

I have made a few probing attacks on the city and it is clear that the battle is going to be extremely tough. The US Air Force is still there, and will defend Washington in strength, there are strong naval elements at Norfolk which make a flanking move to the sea difficult, and on the ground there is that mass of mortars (at least a hundred of them!) which are difficult to tackle to say the least. I need a plan... a cunning plan...

My master plan was as so:
Artillery, so much of it, SO MUCH ARTILLERY, I think in the end, the total population of Washington and it's surrounding cities was less than 500,000.

But It look like their arty might counter your in this case, I'd focus on the rest of the country first before moving on Washington.

I think you should surround them and attack near cities to get much units as you can off washington DC (and cities around it) and then attack it.
