Id say 2k or less units fighting ,including massive airwaves ,runs nicely at the moment at speed 3 .The explosions finally might be at that sweet (enough) spot that i wont complain about them .
The ai seems to be more restrictive on the massive waves of merchant marine transports ,were the rules for them changed ?

I dont think merchant marine is working atm .I havent see the AI doing it, and when i tried it didnt work.

In the past, merchant marine helped the ai get units to where they needed them, but it was hugely overused. Could you add in a "cost"applied for each units that uses this ? Something that manages to limit the hundreds if not thousands of free ships and manpower the AI effectively gets for this.
If its a choice between not working and unlimited, id choose not working.
OR ..... you could give me a way to get my submarines to the planets im invading ,and make the merchant ships very easy to sink (as they should be)

Hmm, needs more thought...
