Unit Overhaul 3.5 is now available. There are 2 new maps to choose from based off of DesTryke's GCR 2020 map. Around 100 foreign bases, APS (Army Prepositioned Stocks) locations, Forward Deployed troops, aircraft, and Carrier Battle Groups, and even land agreements for documented planned foreign military bases in the near future have been added. The 3 Mexican Cartels from the special Cartel Sandbox in DesTryke's mod have been redone and are now playable on one of these two maps. Make sure to read the installation instructions for these new maps found in the Casual Reading folder when you download the mod. There is a complete list of foreign bases in the Change Notes.
Mod Overview:
This mod is a slowly evolving quality of life/realism improvement over the base SRU game. It started out with an overhauled unit file in which most units were reviewed and balanced based off of extensive research and peer review.
From this grew an almost complete overhaul of units, mostly from the 50's and on. Most units have had name overhauls to names that match better with what information is available in 2022. In addition to the renaming and balancing, I also tried to find better images for some units that are available in the base image file. I added 1000+ more units ranging from a whole slew of MRAP style vehicles, UAVs, Satellites and Counter Satellite systems, Missile and Drone systems, country specific elite units, units that are available in current military inventories that I could not find in the original unit file as well as units that are part of many current and future research and development programs. In addition to this I also implemented mechanics to simulate Electronic Warfare, Special Operations Missions, Drone, Asymmetric/Terrorism, Mine, Satellite, and Chemical Warfare. These mechanics add a whole new tool kit in which to wage modern warfare. 151 major country orbats have been researched and updated to 2021 inventories. In addition to the orbats .CVP file includes all the changes made to bring the research tree for each country more on par with 2020 research based on whether a country can research and produce or must buy units from others.

Unit Overhaul Mod 3.5 also includes around 600 3D models from Cyrus Jackson’s Supreme Ruler Remastered Mod. Each of these models have been stitched in and meshed with thousands of units from the Unit Overhaul Mod, giving it a whole new look. Look for new infantry models, so no more infantry with Aks only. Hundreds of new APCs, IFVs, Tanks, Artillery, AA, Transports, Helicopters, Planes, and Ships. Please view the changelog for a complete overview of the thousands of updates, and additions.

3 New Optional Maps based off of DesTrykes GCR Mod. You will need his amazing mod to make this work, so be sure to download that too. There are detailed instructions to update those maps included in the Casual Reading Folder.
Two of those maps include foreign bases, which greatly improve realism of the world as well as improve ai with world conflicts. The last map includes the foreign bases and 3 playable Mexican Cartels introduced in DesTrykes Cartel sandbox. Now they can be played along with the rest of the world.
Electronic and Cyber Warfare in various aspects and capacities have been included. Special Operations have been expanded upon with various specific country Elite Units as well as various Special Operations to expand on clandestine play style. Drone Warfare is now implemented into more of a modern-day role with surveillance and attacks. Asymmetric Warfare and Terrorism also find their way in strategies that one can now utilize. Chemical Warfare has also been addressed and a multitude of options are now available. Orbital Warfare can be accessed via research in your race to space, making these technologies vital game changers in the near future. Also, through the feedback of many contributors, many of the advanced late game units have been pushed back in the tech tree so that they are not popping up on the battlefield in the mid-2020s, and there is more of a gradual progression of units. All these ideas above, you can read more about in a detailed overview that is attached and in the patch notes.[/b]
Finally, I was introduced to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Military Balance, The Annual Assessment of Global Military Capabilities and Defense Economics. I started going through the Military Balance 2021 and started to compare it to the Modern-Day Supreme Ruler orbats. After reviewing a couple countries, I determined that the orbats needed an overhaul too! So slowly I am going through many of them and updating them to actual modern day 2021 inventories. Many missing units have now been added to almost 98-99% accuracy along with accurate force sizes.
From the updated orbats the W2020.CVP file has also been updated with the unit design techs that match the orbats bringing these countries technology base more in line with 2020. The SRU modern scenarios are now probably about the most accurate and realistic out there for any Geopolitical Simulator.
I would like to thank Carnage, Poit, Balur, Rehan, DesTryke, The American Patriot, Donhuang, SchmitOhaulic3, Dawsonisnotgay, ffdmh2223, and many others who have offered insight, data, peer review, and countless hours of play testing.

Finishing up Unit Overhaul Mod version 1.1. A few fixes here and there. Addition of more long range Air to Air missile systems similar to the Chinese PL-15 units. Change to Elite Tier IV units from 2011 special forces to 2021 with tech requirement of Future Mechanize Infantry (1786), for better dispersion on 2017 sandboxes and on. Let me know of any changes you want or new units to request. Hope to get this new version out in a day or two.

Mod Overview:
This mod started out as vandenbergwillie4's unit file that was incorporated into SchmitOhaulic3's The80sAndOn mod. From this grew an almost complete overhaul of units mostly from the 60's and on. Most units have had name overhauls to names that match better with what information is available in 2022. In addition to the renaming, I also tried to find better images (most of Nerei’s additions, have been assigned to units) in addition to what was available in the base image files. In addition to vandenbergwilie4's units that were added, I added 600+ more units ranging from a whole slew of MRAP style vehicles, country specific elite units, units that are available in current military inventories that I could not find in the unit file as well as units that are part of many current and future research and development programs. Also, many stat errors and typos have been peer reviewed and corrected. See the Added units below as well as the unit changes found in the change log attached when you subscribe.
In addition to updating, fixing, and adding units, I have added a few other ideas to enhance the many modern-day strategies. Electronic and Cyber Warfare in various aspects and capacities have been included. Special Operations have been expanded upon with various specific country Elite Units as well as various Special Operations to expand on clandestine play style. Drone Warfare is now implemented into more of a modern-day role with surveillance and attacks. Asymmetric Warfare and Terrorism also find their way in strategies that one can now utilize. Chemical Warfare has also been addressed and a multitude of options are now available. Also, through the feedback of many contributors, many of the advanced late game units have been pushed back in the tech tree so that they are not popping up on the battlefield in the mid-2020s, and there is more of a gradual progression of units. All these ideas above, you can read more about in a detailed overview that is attached and in the patch notes.
Finally, I was introduced to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Military Balance, The Annual Assessment of Global Military Capabilities and Defense Economics. I started going through the Military Balance 2017 and started to compare it to the Modern-Day Supreme Ruler Orbats. After reviewing a couple countries, I determined that the Orbats needed an overhaul too! So slowly I am going through many of them and updating them to actual modern day 2017 inventories. Many missing units have now been added to almost 98-99% accuracy along with accurate force sizes.
In total this unit file address over 2000+ changes and now many updated and accurate Orbats with more to come give this classic game a brand-new feel. Please feel free to make suggestions or changes. As the list grows, I will try to address and update those changes.

Installation:

7. On the left under Game Settings, Click Scenario Settings, Check Select Force Recache.
8. Start game, the game will appear frozen for a long time, 15 minutes to 30 minutes depending on computer. Just be patient get a snack and read the changelog or something.
9. When game starts you should be good to go. You can check to see if you have it loaded properly by selecting the Research Tab, and open Artillery Research. If you see Minefields are at the top, you are good to go.
10. Will need to do a recache for each Sandbox year.
For players who are doing multi-player games and experiencing desyncs and errors the following steps will fix these problems:
1. A fresh reinstall of the base SRU game. The more players you have the more likely that someone has forgotten about some old file they updated or replaced. Even if one file is off there will be a problem.
2. Unsubscribe and Resubscribe to the Unit Overhaul Mod, double check to see if the attached changelog description version matches the latest version of the mod.
3. Make sure ALL files go where they need to go (as detailed above) and that an overwrite prompt was given.
4. Everyone needs to do a recache.

All 115 orbats now have ARV, LARV units, as well the recently introduced smaller AGMs, and HARMS as well as many other additions added this update.
*Added Headquarters units (Mostly a role play unit, but does have stats in Observation and Supply that would benefit proper Brigade, Division, and Corp Size Battle Groups). SR2030's new
battle group system and battlegroup leaders will hopefully utilize.
*Added Armored Recovery Vehicles (ARV) and Light Armored Recovery Vehicles (LARV): In-game act as armored logistics vehicles, with a smaller amount of supply than regular supply units.
These units are good for sending out to recover (supply) vehicles that are beyond the front lines and cut off from supply.
*(Major rework of all air and naval platforms with missile capacity! Thousands of changes!!!!)
*Reviewed and Overhauled all Helicopter, Interceptor, Tactical Bomber, Multi-role, Strategic Bomber, and Patrol aircraft missile capacity.
If a fighter is stealth with internal missile capacity, missile capacity has been greatly reduced. All other fighter platforms, missile capacity has been adjusted
according to fighter size, hardpoints, and hardpoint weight. So an F-15E Strike Eagle has more missile capacity than a F-22 with only internal missile capacity.
Platforms that utilize both internal and external hardpoints have stealth values reduced. Many armed drones can carry smaller missiles.

Unit Overhaul Mod 3.1 now includes around 500 3D models from Cyrus Jackson’s Supreme Ruler Remastered Mod. Each of these models have been stitched in and meshed with thousands of units from the Unit Overhaul Mod, giving it a whole new look. Look for new infantry models, so no more infantry with Aks only. Hundreds of new APCs, IFVs, Tanks, Artillery, AA, Transports, Helicopters, Planes, and Ships.
Mod Overview:
This mod is a slowly evolving quality of life/realism improvement over the base SRU game. It started out with an overhauled unit file in which most units were reviewed and balanced based off extensive research and peer review. From this grew an almost complete overhaul of units, mostly from the 50's and on. Most units have had name overhauls to names that match better with what information is available in 2022. In addition to the renaming and balancing, we also tried to find better images for some units that are available in the base image file. Over 1000+ more units where added ranging from a whole slew of MRAP style vehicles, UAVs, Missile and Drone systems, country specific elite units, units that are available in current military inventories that we could not find in the original unit file as well as units that are part of many current and future research and development programs. In addition to this we also implemented mechanics to simulate Electronic Warfare, Special Operations Missions, Drone, Asymmetric/Terrorism, Orbital Bombardment, Mine, and Chemical Warfare. These mechanics add a whole new tool kit in which to wage modern warfare. 136 major country orbats have been researched and updated to 2021 inventories. In addition to the orbats the W2020.CVP file includes all the changes made to bring the research tree for each country more on par with 2020 research.
In summary there are well over 3000 changes, 136 accurate orbats, researched technologies based on 2021 data, additions, and new mechanics.
There is an attached change log text document that details every major change implemented. All of this has been evolving over the last couple of years with many contributors, testers, and members providing thousands of hours of peer review.
Details:
Electronic and Cyber Warfare in various aspects and capacities have been included. Special Operations have been expanded upon with various specific country Elite Units as well as various Special Operations to expand on clandestine play style. Drone Warfare is now implemented into more of a modern-day role with surveillance and attacks. Asymmetric Warfare and Terrorism also find their way in strategies that one can now utilize. Chemical Warfare has also been addressed and a multitude of options are now available. Orbital Warfare can be accessed via research in your race to space, making these technologies vital game changers in the near future. Also, through the feedback of many contributors, many of the advanced late game units have been pushed back in the tech tree so that they are not popping up on the battlefield in the mid-2020s, and there is more of a gradual progression of units. All these ideas above, you can read more about in a detailed overview that is attached and in the patch notes.
Finally, I was introduced to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the Military Balance, The Annual Assessment of Global Military Capabilities and Defense Economics. I started going through the Military Balance 2021 and started to compare it to the Modern-Day Supreme Ruler orbats. After reviewing a couple countries, I determined that the orbats needed an overhaul too! So slowly I am going through many of them and updating them to actual modern day 2021 inventories. Many missing units have now been added to almost 98-99% accuracy along with accurate force sizes.
From the updated orbats the W2020.CVP file has also been updated with the unit design techs that match the orbats bringing these countries technology base more in line with 2020. The SRU modern scenarios are now probably about the most accurate and realistic out there for any Geopolitical Simulator.

Unit Overhaul 3.3 is now available(SRU). Major updates include a work around fix to a reported garrison issue. Major overhaul to all Strategic Bombers, stats now reflect actual payload capacity of each bomber and technology that improves capabilities. Merchant Marine overhaul, there are now two types, heavies that require ports, and lighter ones that can naval invade on non-ports hexes, can now expect to see more successful naval invasions. An overhaul and rebalance to all country specific elite and SOF units. Hundreds of more model image updates. Added several more Unmanned Ground Vehicles and Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicles. Added dozens of late WWII and early Cold War bombers, fighters, heavy bombs, early guided missiles, ships, tanks, and more. Be sure to check the changelog for a complete list. Much more work on the 80sAndMod files has been completed, so stay tuned for that update!
*Work around fix to reported Garrison issue. Most countries would default to Garrison 2030 even without the tech requirement. This was a coding issue and can not be fixed in SRU. As a result garrisions have been balanced to
closer match the 80s through 2020s time frame.
*Strategic Bombers have been overhauled and balanced according to their bombload capacity and technology a particular bomber might posses over another bombmer. They still will not destroy a hex outright, but they leave a much
more notable impact and are a valuable tool. See notes from Unit Overhaul 3.2.

Unit Overhaul 3.3 is now available(SRU). Major updates include a work around fix to a reported garrison issue. Major overhaul to all Strategic Bombers, stats now reflect actual payload capacity of each bomber and technology that improves capabilities. Merchant Marine overhaul, there are now two types, heavies that require ports, and lighter ones that can naval invade on non-ports hexes, can now expect to see more successful naval invasions. An overhaul and rebalance to all country specific elite and SOF units. Hundreds of more model image updates. Added several more Unmanned Ground Vehicles and Unmanned Ground Combat Vehicles. Added dozens of late WWII and early Cold War bombers, fighters, heavy bombs, early guided missiles, ships, tanks, and more. Be sure to check the changelog for a complete list. Much more work on the 80sAndMod files has been completed, so stay tuned for that update!
*Work around fix to reported Garrison issue. Most countries would default to Garrison 2030 even without the tech requirement. This was a coding issue and can not be fixed in SRU. As a result garrisions have been balanced to
closer match the 80s through 2020s time frame.
*Strategic Bombers have been overhauled and balanced according to their bombload capacity and technology a particular bomber might posses over another bombmer. They still will not destroy a hex outright, but they leave a much
more notable impact and are a valuable tool. See notes from Unit Overhaul 3.2.
