How will SRGW and SR:U work?
I have played SR games for years although the last one I purchased was SR 1936. I am currently trying to play a modern setting with the new features and since I can't seem to find a working link to Fistalis modern mod I am looking at picking up a copy of SR:U. That being said given that SR:GW is on the horizon I am considering holding off as it seems silly to invest in SR:U if there is going to be a new game with newly added features shortly. Or will the features be rolled back into Ultimate and so the only thing I would be missing out on would be the great war setting (although that is very interesting too!)

Mod doesnt work anymore on Ultimate either, great job by the devs
Well you can probably get it to run with the right knowledge, but i choose to work on my own modern mod instead of fixing someone else work.

IN their defense I never fully revamped the mod for ultimate.. the "working" link was someone elses quick fix to convert it.YoMomma wrote:Mod doesnt work anymore on Ultimate either, great job by the devs

I have no idea what would make you think we have any level or responsibility to make other people's mods work with our newer titles out of the box. We offer great support to the modding community here, you've seen that yourself.YoMomma wrote:....great job by the devs
And be polite, you know the rules here.

So just to confirm, is GW an expansion pack for ultimate or is it just a stand alone game like CW?

Are there any thoughts about also offering SR:GW as a paid addon to current owners of SRU?

Personally I would rather have it as part of SRU than standalone as I prefer to have everything in one package but I assume BG have done a cost/benefit analysis of it.
Out of curiosity though outside of engine updates what do you plan of rolling back into SRU? Some of say the Great War art assets might still work for 36.

Re: How will this mod and SR:U work?
While we could roll back lots, I'm not sure what would be applicable. All the new unit entries will end up in SRU, but all the new ones are also set for out of production dates around 1929 so players won't see any of the new units/models unless they "show obsolete". Same thing with all the new leaders, many of the dead by the next war, not one of them are still in power IIRC.

Re: How will this mod and SR:U work?
Warships would be a case where a great war 3D model is not that different from what they might look like in 1936. Say Royal Navy battleships could for the most part at least easily use their great war model and even if a bit of reconstruction have happened it is probably an improvement over everything being post-reconstruction USS Tennessee.
