SRGW - Montenegro - Changes in Cities & Military Needed

Post by geminif4ucorsair »

There are several changes needed to get the right spelling - and the wrong Capital is identified for Montenegro, as below:

* * Cities: Change to:

* Podgorica X 938 Y 194 PODGORITSA - Delete: Capital designation
ADD: Barracks - 4th Brigade Hq.

* Niksic X 936 Y 193 NIKSHITYE
ADD: Barracks - 7th Brigade Hq.

* Boka Korotska X Use either: TIVAT (nearest Adriatic) or KOTOR (further up inlet); prefer TIVAT.
ADD: Sea Port
https://www.google.com/search?q=boka+ko ... Okr0Qlj8SM:
"Boka Korotska" just means "Bay of Kotor".

* Bijelopolje X 941 Y 191 KOLASHIN (nearest large city to Bijelo Polje (two words, vice SRGW map)

* * ADD:

* CITTINJE X 935 Y 194 Add: Capital Population: 4,500
Barracks 1st Brigade Hq.

* KOLASHIN X 940 Y 192 Add: Barracks Population: 5,000; 10th Bde. Hq.
Fortification Only city in Montenegro that could be considered to have a
modern fortification system, with trenches, emplacements...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kola%C5%A1in

[Note. On "Brigades", based on number of military personnel, these are equivalent to Battalions, in SR system. In the military area changes recommended below, these are treated as Battalions.].

----------------

* * ARMY Army on Mobilization: 40,000 active, 10,000 organized 'reserved'

* Composition: 4 x Infantry Divisions - 11 x Infantry Battalions on mobilization

* Locations on mobilization:

- Cettinje (Capital) - 3 x Bn's (1st, 2nd, 3rd)

- Podgoritsa - 3 x Bn's (4th, 5th, 6th)

- Nikshitye - 3 x Bn's (7th, 8th, 9th)

- Kolushin - 2 x Bn's (10th, 11th)

[Note. the above four locations should each be provided a Barracks, all 11 Bn's in reserve, and number of battalions placed at each of the above locations.]

----------

* ARTILLERY - There are no artillery units at SRGW start; recommend the following based on existing inventories, not including any artillery that might have been added after 1911-12:

- 1 x Krupp 120mm M1905 - Location: Nikshitye x 936 Y 193
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/120_mm_Kr ... tzer_M1905

- 1 x Krupp 75mm M1903 - Location: Cettinje X 935 Y 194
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krupp_7.5_cm_Model_1903

- 1 x Krupp 77mm M1896
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.7_cm_FK_96 - Location: Taslidja (new name; old name: Pljevlja). X 938 Y 190

Note. Several other sources reference a Krupp-Turin 90mm 1876 but tis is probably a bronze gun and therefore not including. German languages sources reference the 77mm M1896, so using here.
Montenegro, due to it's mostly mountainous terrain, had not formed any Cavalry by 1914.].

The old maps of 1909 thru 1914 show it as Cettinja, including intelligence report maps of Montenegro - hence my using that spelling (two "t"'s vice one).

I wasn't living then, so who is right? :o
