Great Britain - New Sea Port's needed

Post by geminif4ucorsair »

The current Great Britain map could use some amending, by addition of new Sea Ports, as suggested below:

* * Inverness - X 791 Y 115 - ADD: Sea Port

Home port for the Royal Navy North Sea patrol units - both Northern Patrol and Southern North Sea squadrons.

* * Harwich - X 826 Y144 - CHANGE: Hex, from Ocean Hex to Land Hex; ADD - Sea Port; ADD: Small Town

Home port for 3rd and 4th Destroyer Flotilla's, and Submarine squadron ("D" & "E" classes), etc.
Served throughout WW One & Two as major naval base at entrance to

* * Hull (-Humber) - X 816 Y134 - REVISE Name to: Hull-Humber; ADD: Sea Port

Home port for 7th Destroyer Flotilla - 34 destroyer types (and, with war, become British warship building location)

* * Portland-Weymouth - X 806 Y 151) - Current Ocean Hex; change to Land Hex
ADD: New Small Town, and: SEA PORT

Commonly known in Royal Navy as "Weymouth", the adjacent locations serve as major Royal Navy basing locations, away westward from the shipbuilding center at Southhampton / Portsmouth.

Home port for 5th and 6th Battleship Squadron's, plus small destroyer flotillas.

* * London (X 818 Y 146) - CHANGE to Sea Port; remove Sea Pier.

* * Portsmouth Military Complex - (X 81 Y 148) - RELOCATE this to X 812 Y 150; RENAME as: (Southhampton) Military Complex.

This is a better representation of Southampton's shipbuilding complex (see earlier post on adding Southampton, etc.)

* * Dover - ( X 826 Y 148) - should the town and port of Dover not be on the map?
[The hex is the only available one sufficiently to historical location but its empty and could be location.]

It was also home in 1914 to the 6th Destroyer Flotilla, which included four cruisers and 24 destroyer-types.

-------------------

There were other basing locations for the Royal Navy, sometimes with 20 or more cruiser-destroyer types permanently based there (Forth, Tyne, Nore, etc.) but in the interest of consolidation (BG preference), the above is adequate.
Royal Navy 1914 order-of-battle to follow.
