Over the last few days I have been paying attention to what is happening and what is annoying when it comes to trades. I do enjoy the ability to "faux embargo" a nation. What is extremely annoying is when you are saving a commodity for your own use, via the lock and Market Exports function, and you are spammed daily with buy orders. Now, one could faux embargo the nations spamming you, but in many instances I will gladly sell them other items and do not wish to lock them out entirely.
What I think would add to the quality of life of the game is a button/option/toggle to set any item/resource as NOT FOR SALE. This would apply to the World Market and would prevent any nation from sending you a request. Perhaps make the existing Market Export also apply to individual requests? Flag it as, do not even ask.
I am sure my pre carpal tunnel syndrome would thank you when I no longer have to click on the umpteenth Reject button this month.

Re: Trade Requests and Commodities/Resources
and having an auto-embargo on enemies, their colonies and maybe their allies would be nice too.
Even old classics like imperialism (1997) had embargoes and merchantmarine (=trading goods) that could be intercepted.

Re: Trade Requests and Commodities/Resources
Didn't we used to have embargoes against individual countries back in SR2010?

Re: Trade Requests and Commodities/Resources
I would prefer a simple thing tied to existing mechanics. Make the faux embargo mechanics able to link to individual resources/commodities. Perhaps a list of them with a simple check box. This would be sufficient to address my concerns. Later if BG wants to consider more complicated things they can.

Re: Trade Requests and Commodities/Resources
While we at it, please create an option to make trade deals longer than for 30 days. How about signing a trade deal for one year or 5 years? We should also have a screen showing signed deals.
Also, it would be great to cancel specific treaties, like transit or free trade, without breaking all ties. Canceling one treaty should damage diplomatic relations slightly.

Re: Trade Requests and Commodities/Resources
Off topic;
You can currently make trade deals for 90 days. Although the ai rarely does that as they cannot predict 90 days ahead. Will they have the resource/money/commodity three months down the road? Will they be in war and no longer have excess? Will their population have grown so much they no longer have excess? To many variables. I certainly see no reason for anything longer than 90 days. Even us humans cannot predict what the map will look like in 1 year.
The cancel treaty issue is separate and has been typed about elsewhere.
