War of the Triple Alliance, a Paraguayan AAR

Post by Cdiplayer »

2017 sandbox, Paraguayan President Manuel Aguilo has come to power promising to "Make Paraguay Great Again!". His fiery inuaguration speech mentions "our dishonest, selfish neighbors, who live in luxury and excess while we Paraguayans suffer in poverty. They have oceans of wealth, live in fancy houses, and drive luxury cars, yet they share nothing with us! It is time for Paraguay to reclaim what is rightfully hers! The Paraguayan people deserve an outlet to the sea. Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil will soon know the strength and the resolve of the Paraguayan nation!"

As Paraguay's industrial and military buildup begins, her neighbors look on with little more than a passing concern.

Stay tuned

After years of buildup, the mighty Paraguayan military is finally ready to take on their first opponent, Paraguay's northern neighbor, Brazil.
Image
The armies of Paraguay quickly move into Brazil's south western provinces in a mad dash to seize the valuable uranium there.
Image
The Brazilian military is caught totally off guard, and scrambles to respond.
Image
Fierce fighting takes place as the Brazilians throw everything they have at the Paraguayan army. However, in the end it is not enough, the poorly prepared Brazilian troops melt away as the invincible, steel like armies of Paraguay stride forward.
Image
The remnants of the Brazilian army make a desperate last stand at Campo Grande, but within days their armies are surrounded and utterly destroyed. The city falls and Paraguayan troops begin to solidify their control over south western Brazil.
Image
Finally, the Supreme Leader of Paraguay, Manuel Aguilo, fearing enemy airpower and encirclement, orders his troops to halt and withdraw to a defensive line near Campo Grande.
Image
A series of trenches and fortifications are built along the entire front as Paraguay prepares for the invasion of Argentina.
Image
The war in the north drags on as peace negotiations stall and the Argentine threat becomes more and more real. Argentine troops are now stationed all along the border with Paraguay, an attack is coming, but when it does the invincible and legendary Paraguayan army will be ready!

The Growler surprises me, what were your thoughts on choosing it? I like that F-16 model, but it lacks range compared to some other options.

I chose the Growler over the Thunderbolt because my only interceptor, the Wren, isn't terribly effective and so I wanted a tactical bomber that wouldn't be too vulnerable to enemy fighters. As for the F 16, I chose that model largely because my air force doesn't need much of a range to achieve my goals. I primarily use my air force for defensive purposes.

All right, thank you. In my mind the Growler is not an attack/bomber, it is an electronic warfare plane. What particular stat would you suggest makes it less vulnerable to enemy fighters? I am guessing its Air Defense rating? The Wren has a higher stealth rating and EWAR does not function in the game.

I hope my curiosity is ok?

Well, I based my decision off two stats, mid air attack, and air defense. These are both higher than the Thunderbolt. The electronic warfare piece is largely irrevelent, in fact I'm not sure it even has any impact at all in game. I don't mind the curiosity. :D

After months of war, on February 4th 2025 Brazil finally concedes defeat and offers Paraguay peace. Seven days later the Paraguayan invasion of Argentina begins.
Image
The Argentine military resists fiercely, but ultimately they are no match for the indefatigable and fearless Paraguayan army!
Image
The Argentine army is quickly surrounded and totally destroyed by the brave Paraguayans, who effortlessly stride from victory to victory, and quickly seize the northernmost regions of Argentina
Image
"The path to the sea is now open! Seize the east bank of the Parana!" proclaims the Fearless Leader of Paraguay, Manuel Aguilo, as Paraguayan troops sweep away the remaining Argentine resistance and begin their march south to the Atlantic.
Image
After seizing the east bank of the Parana River it becomes clear that the time has come to destroy the "false state" known as Uruguay.
Image
Uruguay quickly falls to the advancing armies and Argentina begins peace negotiations.
Image
Meanwhile, the Supreme Ruler of Paraguay begins making plans to strike the final blow against the eternal enemy, Brazil.
