The South Atlantic Treaty Organization

Post by Cdiplayer »

The 1970s have dawned on the world and the Cold War is heating up. A third sphere is emerging to challenge NATO and the Warsaw Pact. SATO, headquartered in South America, is a new global alliance that seeks to challenge Anglocentric North America and establish Latin American dominance for all time. The new global language shall not be English, nor will it be Russian. It will be Spanish! Member states thus far are as follows
United States of Colombia (A union consisting of Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Guyana, and western Paraguay.)
Union of Portuguese States (A union of the Portuguese Empire with Brazil)
Spain
Argentina
Chile
Suriname
Tunisia
Libya
Mali Federation
South Africa
Together we will take on NATO in 1982 when Argentina invades the Falklands.
Below are the top secret maps and coded messages sent between the SATO heads of state.
Image
Phase one will involve Argentina seizing the Falklands while the UPS invades French Guyana. The Mali Federation will liberate French Mauritania and begin moving along with UPS forces into French West Africa.
Image
Phase two will involve USC forces taking Aruba, Curacao, and Trinidad and Tobago while UPS forces take Barbados.
Image
Phase three will begin immediately after, with USC forces launching an offensive into Panama and an amphibious invasion of Nicaragua.
Image
Phase four will begin with an invasion of southern France by Spain, a Spanish invasion of Sardinia and Sicily in support of the insurgents there, the occupation of Gibraltar, and the Portuguese seizure of Tangier.
Image
Phase five will be a two pronged invasion of British Rhodesia by Portuguese forces.
Image
The following phases are as yet unknown but current SATO war aims are for the annexation of Newfoundland and Labrador by the UPS in accordance with the Treaty of Tordesillas and the liberation of Quebec from Canadian rule.
Image
The current position of the alliance in the Pacific is rather dire. The orange areas are controlled by the USC and the red areas are controlled by the UPS but the remaining lands are controlled by France (pink) Britain (Yellow) America (Purple) and Mexico (Greyish White).

The year is now 1985 and SATO has thus far avoided starting WW3. In 1982 Argentina invaded the Falklands and the Union of Portuguese States used this opportunity to seize control of Zimbabwe, southern and central Zambia, and southern Malawi. One year later the United States invaded Grenada and the Union of Portuguese States responded by annexing Barbados. Tensions are high, but a larger conflict has been avoided by diplomatic efforts to attempt to split the NATO alliance. Guatemala and El Salvador are the newest members of the SATO alliance and we are at present discussing plans to redraw the map of Africa once World War 3 begins in 1987. Image
Union of Portuguese States (green) The UPS already controls all territories included on this map, once the war begins the UPS will acts to support its allies in the region and move to destroy French colonial Africa.
Libyan Federation (red) Libya will invade French Chad when the war begins and will act to support fellow SATO member Tunisia during the war. Upon the conclusion of the war Tunisia and Chad will become colonies of Libya.
Mali Federation (orange) The Mali Federation will march into French west Africa and annex Burkina Faso, Benin, as well as marching into and annexing Gambia. The Mali Federation will then grant independence to the remaining French west African states.
South Africa (purple) South Africa will continue to maintain its colony in Namibia and will march into Botswana to install a SATO friendly regime there.
Ethiopia (yellow) SATO forces will attack Greater Somalia and support pro independence movements within Ethiopia (ten years earlier Ethiopia was partitioned between Eritrea and Somalia) Once the Ethiopian state has been reestablished it will be granted sovereignty over Eritrea. Territorial concessions by Somalia have yet to be decided.
East African Federation (light blue) The East African Federation is a future political union that is currently being discussed as a future post war project for the SATO alliance. Other possibilities include the establishment of the United Arab Republic with Egypt, Sudan, North Yemen, Syria, and Iraq and the possible annexation of Swaziland and Lesotho by South Africa. The possibility of partitioning the Congo has also been brought up. Current proposals include the establishment of a pro SATO Katanga state, as well as a landlocked pro SATO state in northeastern Congo.
