Intelligence ? Not in this agency. Funny story I just read.

Well in ww2 getting intelligence reports from the french underground was difficult and risky.Radios had the downside of being detected and traced to the locale,which was kinda dangerous for the poor guy sending the report.
So what to do.Well an intelligence agency(story doesnt make it clear if it was british or american) decided to have the reports made in writing.Simple hand written reports.
The agency decided that since the french fishing boats were being allowed to ply their trade again, why not use them to deliver the messages ?
So the plan was devised to have the resistance hand write the reports,have fisherman working for the resistance place the reports in lobster traps and place them at set locales in the channel.
Divers would then retreive the reports for the agency from the traps.
The agency also wanted to send info to the resistance this way.They decided to construct FAKE lobsters with hidden compartments that the messages could be placed in.The divers could just leave a fake lobster in the trap as nedded so that when the fisherman retreived the lobster traps they would find the "lobsters" inside with the messages inside the "lobsters".
The fisherman would then simply take their catch home as usual and pass the info on to the resistance.
Now the agency knew they had to make the fake lobsters very life like and the right size so as to NOT arouse suspicion or get the fisherman in trouble for illegal catches(lobster to small to be be kept).
The agency did a fantastic job on the fake lobsters,the plan worked great.
Just one little problem,seems no one told the "intelligence" agency that LIVE lobsters are NOT deep red !
They are actaully kinda a darkish green/brown.
Well, you can guess what happened when a patrol saw a fisherman pull up his trap with the fake lobster inside.

This is the first time Ive read this story and can't say for sure if its true,but it sure is funny.
