Re: Scotland
I think we will see in nearest future many new countries.Hullu Hevonen wrote:Hmmm... what if Scotlish independence became true..?
It was made to crush strong national states.
It is another one step on the path to real EU.
EU will consist of a lot of weak countries without national interests and own political will.
Scotland will be another one new colony of France and Germany like all Eastern Europe.
Third World War will begins soon....

May that come to be sooner rather than later.Tremere wrote: EU will consist of a lot of weak countries without national interests and own political will.

Having lived in the strong willed and independent nation of Greece I would relinquish all national authority over to the Germans without second thought. Plus, I suspect, most Eastern Europeans would agree that being a "German colony" beats being a "Soviet colony", hands down.
The nation state in Europe is outdated at best and the only way for European vital interests to be safeguarded in a changing world is if the EU transforms into some kind of European Federation bound by common history, interests and values.
In that direction, I find it plausible, even practical, that under a European Federal Government, the constituent nation states could dissolve into even smaller administrative regions. A "separarate"(rather than "independent") Scotland could very well be a plausible outcome in a unified Europe.

Re: Scotland
Most of all Europe, except Germany, goes into deep debt. National economy crushed. Industry closed. Agriculture is ruined. Political elite under control. Living standard falls. Prices and inflation rises higher and higher.IamBecomeDeath wrote:May that come to be sooner rather than later.Tremere wrote: EU will consist of a lot of weak countries without national interests and own political will.

Foreign trans-national corporations gains more and more money.
"common history, interests and values" Are you about endless war among european nations during of the thousands years?
It is another one new "roman empire" where most of people will be enslaved by corporations.
Third World War will begins soon....

They also may choose to join in a more stonger union with Canada, Austalia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Re: Scotland
Do you seriously believe that those countries combined even come close to the economic power of the European Union? Additionally, your alliance has the problem of being geographically fragmented.Col_Travis wrote:They also may choose to join in a more stonger union with Canada, Austalia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Scotland has the reputation of being europe-friendlier than the UK and the ECB already did theoretical plans on how to react if Scotland wanted to stay in the EU or even join the Eurozone in the case they become fully independant.

Re: Scotland
I don't think the Scots will vote for this, especially when they see the REAL figures, and realise they'll be losing their free prescriptions for methadone and English tax payer subsidy for their Buckfast tokens.

Re: Scotland
If these four nations united in a federal union they would become the fourth largest economy in the world after the Eurozone, the United States and China with toe holds in NAFTA, ASEAN and the EU. But unlike the others, they would be self-suficient in all of there resources.Challenger wrote:Do you seriously believe that those countries combined even come close to the economic power of the European Union?
