Khan the military does not use most of stuff it has but keeps it because you never know when you will need it I mean where I work we have rope that cost R1000 or more than $100 a meter best rope ever and never been used but we have it because you never know same with a B2 or any other high tech equipment. Better have and never need it than need it and don't have it.
You plastic soldiers i will turn you in to real soldiers

NPR did a story on this... http://www.npr.org/2011/06/25/137414737 ... nditioning

...they were kind enough to print this clarification.
The Pentagon disputes the calculation made by Anderson about air conditioning costs. Defense Department spokesman Dave Lapan says that in fiscal year 2010, the Pentagon spent approximately $15 billion on energy for all military operations around the world. The Pentagon says when it comes to Afghanistan, it spent $1.5 billion from October 2010 to May 2011 on fuel. That fuel was used for heating and air conditioning systems, but also for aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, combat vehicles, computers and electricity inside military structures.
Bit hard to spend $20 billion in Afghanistan when you only spend $15 billion globally.

From what the commercials tell us, the Salvation Army already has tents with A/C powered by solar panels (inspired by Toyota or somesuch). I wonder how confused a lefty would be if the Army claimed it couldn't cut it's budget because it had to buy solar panel tents?

You need to pay better attention. Those are just small exhaust fans. You ain't running A/C off solar with any gear you could move around without a forklift and at least an 18 wheeler or 2.
