First episode was decent. This could come together very nicely. The stories got some really contrived conflicts being setup, but they should be ignorable

5.3 million viewers tuned in to watch the world ravaged by the living dead. About 3.6 million of the total number came from the Adults 18-49 demographic, which is higher than any other show in the history of cable television.
The Walking Dead" is given a second season.

Thanks ,i hadnt seen that. There are a bunch of people who love the series, yet find some of the "sub plots" just too lazy and cliche though,so a writer change isnt automatically a bad thing. They do have 13 episodes to get done for next session though,so this could be a bad thing in that respect. On the other hand, they can just continue to bastardize the comic story for at least those 13 episodes if they keep moving at the slow pace they have set so far.

So what's the overall verdict of the first season?

Its not over yet, theyve got one more episode to go.But the vast majority of feedback ive seen is very much overall positive.Theres a few,of which im one,who found some of the sub plots tired, but even so look forward to the next episode.

They set a record in viewership with the first episode, and one report ive read claimed its viewer share is still rising. The comic book which the series is based on is said to have a strong following.Ive never read it, and dont intend to til after the tv series ends,as the tv series will probably lack in comparison and i want to fully enjoy the tv series for what it is.

I think If someone likes survival oriented stories, this is a good one to watch, even if they dislike the zombie setting.

Haven't got premier channels so may have to wait and buy the box set. I'm sure to like it.

Im too lazy right now to go and count them, but i think it was only 6 episodes. And they are not scheduled for the next season,13 episodes, til next fall. They were taken completely by suprise on how popular it would be it seems.Something like 11million viewers for the last episode.

Personally i think they're being stupid for waiting a year for the next season, yea i know, its a "season" for a reason, but they really should continue to strike while the success is flowing.Right now the show runs like 4 hours, with 2 repeats, followed by the new, followed by a the new again. And even with that big a dose, the viewer count is rising.

Definately should have struck while the iron was hot. 6 episodes- that's not a series or a season- it's a pilot. At least they had sense not to kick it off against something like the Super Bowl. (Space Above and Beyond died that way)

Well I guess more time may add more quality.
