Cyberwarfare, the new frontier! I read a book about 20yrs ago called the War in 2020 that predicted alot of this.

Interesting to see how it will be intigrated into a major war. I suspect drones will become useless and a lot of the interconnectivity will prove to be a liability to those using it.

Nah, drones will just become more autonomous, and not needing a constant nanny approach, will not require communication that can be used to mess with it.

Interconnectivity, while it will have its weakness of being messed with, will be less likely for the enemy to successfully mess with than standard radio communication. And provide better info overall.

neither of these will ever be flawless of course.

They may not need constant supervision and control, but they will always need the ability to communicate with the drone to assign/cancel targets. This will always be a weakness that can be exploited.

Encrypted communications can be used, but there is always the possibility of them being compromised.

Nah,we already have drones and even cruise missiles that can choose a target from a pre-generated list, programmed into the drone and or missile before launch, and then use a selection of rules to change the target if the rules say it should without any external imput.

And we'll see alot more advances in that direction very fast in the coming years.

----

back to the stuxnet topic, 3 new variations have been detected, but NOT identified.Seems the people behind it,made a large mistake at one of the controller computers. While messing with permission, they appreared to have locked themselves out of the computer.A ton of new information has been discovered on it.Including clear indications of 3 variants undiscovered to this point, and tons of the data the stuxnet stole that was routed to this particular system.

of course, it could all be a red herring.....
