...word is filtering out about a new wave of "anti-corruption" arrests.This is said to not be the usual hundreds "detained" on political grounds each month,but is instead said to consist mainly of former and current gov officials.Estimates are at about 400+ at this time.If true,and it likely is,it has the look of a "soft" purge.

Russia is now trying to make a deal with cuba for a new russian naval base in cuba.

At the same time,castro has asked for dialogue with the US.

nonsense.a large portion of the population of cuba wishs castro would just disappear,and take his system with him.Its no "coincidence" that cuba has one of the largest prison populations of journalists in the entire world.

Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez has asked the Inter-American Human Rights Commission for "urgent precautionary measures to protect her life and physical integrity",as well as permission to enter and leave cuba as she'd like.

Shes probably a tad bit worried about becoming the victim of a "car accident".....

Yoani Sanchez was arrested and detained by fidels boys.....She was held for 30 hours.She was on her way to cover the trial of the driver of a cuban dissident recently killed in a car accident.

She and her husband ,were 2 of several arrested as they arrived where the closed trial is being held.The driver being charged in the death,is a spanish national,and so far spain is not complaining.

Cuba is updating its exit rules.Contrary to what a few "news" orgs are releasing,its NOT ending its exit permit policy.

Its as i said above , updating it,with looser rules for some.

This is good news for cubans.Ordinary cubans will have never have had it so easy to defect.Its is of course bad news for other regions,as you can fully expect many of these newly allowed travelers to NOT "choose" to go back to cuba.

In addition,any cubans the regime considers actually important,like scientists ,athletes,etc...will still be under the old rules.And will have to defect the old way.
