Elections...

Post by Hullu Hevonen »

I'm just wondering, which party would you vote for in the coming Senate and house of representatives elections?

 Very funny. It seems you forgot to include the Party that is going to win more than the entire group you did list.

Ron Paul has the right "flavor" of ideas. However, if you put a full cup of salt into your stew, that "flavor" becomes less than desirable.

Well, I am all for shrinking the Federal Government and removing or seriously revamping (as in reorganizing at 1/10th the size) most of the bloated Federal Agencies. Ron Paul seems rather insistent on doing all of this stuff immediately. I am of the opinion that unless you want to traumatize the citizenry and turn them against you, you have to take it step by step. Another example is his opinion about global military withdrawal into isolationism. I do not disagree with shrinking our global "footprint" militarily, but doing it all at once and precipitously will cause more problems than it solves.

Does that make more sense? He wants to do all this crap within a one term presidency. I am of the opinion that it would take a generation to even come close to the levels of smaller government he calls for. I don't dislike most of his ideas, I just want to do them at a rate that does not cause armageddon domestically or abroad. It took 100+ years for things to get this out of hand. It is going to take more than a year or two to repair them.

(I also admit that I am not an expert on his views. If there are mitigating circumstances that I am unaware of, then my opinion could sway further in his favor. However, I still think he isn't realistic in his idea plans.)

I would vote for the Libertarian Party, it has many similar positions that I have, though I don't agree to full with them. :-)

If I could actually vote in these elections I would probably be voting Republican or possibly Libertarian. I was all for 'change' as it were and gave Obama a chance but my patience has run out and therefore I feel further change is in order back to something sensible.
