Great Moments in Nationalized Health Care...

I think Obama and crew could find many cost saving methods by studying other Nationalized health care systems...

It's not enough to cut back on medication costs. Even mundane things like the water bill should be tightly monitored. [_]O

Hmmm, and here I thought they were going broke because the baby boomers are starting to hit the medicare age.

I might be missing your point...

Is it that "The reason why this government run healthcare system is failing,is becuase it was doomed to fail to begin with as designed, becuase it didnt take into account an event EVERYONE knew was coming ?"

Its was doomed to fail the moment that healthcare costs rose above the amount being paid into the system. Past bandaid measures have slowed the bleeding but the influx of babyboomers coming of age has pushed and will keep pushing the current systems.

Its not effecting just the government plans, its effecting the private employer insurance plans too.

Ahh but private businesses come and go, succeed or fail on .As they are meant too.

Where as the government isnt supposed to be in business, and doesnt allow their pets to fail when they should like a private business would. In large part becuase it sees itself and its pets/businesses as to big/important/cherished to fail. And the people as their own personal bailout fund,to go to time and time again to keep their sinking projects afloat.

I wonder what will happen when Health Insurance companies start going bankrupt. Goverment will step in, its just a matter time. If they dont deal with the Health Care costs and insurance costs soon, then they will be bailing out these insurance companies in a few years. The health care industry is too big, over 15% of our GDP. If the insurance companies fail, the clinics and hospitals will follow and it will continue to spiral downward from there.

Im not convinced they will fail.
Its a matter of priorities and realities to me.

priority
*does a person buy the latest big screen tv(insert any other luxury here),or use the money for healthcare.

Reality
*its simply NOT possible to give everyone everything.

At some point,it will level out.The amount of people who are both willing and able to pay for health insurance will ,and those either not willing or unable wont. And the market will adjust. The only change will be in the numbers on each side.

I own neither a big screen tv nor health insurance.I know people who own the big screen, but not the health insurance.Should i have to pay for their health insurance ?Of course not.Just like they shouldnt have to buy me a big screen tv.

The move to try and make healthcare a right is very scary. Its much akin to the move to make owning a house a right, that caused the latest economic crisis in the US.And this one (the move to make healthcare a right) will do the same if it gets thru.

If you ever want to test how that will turn out.Invite 20 or so people you dont know out for a binge drinking night.Tell them,no matter how much they drink, the bill will be split evenly between all. With one exception, no matter how much it costs, you personally will pay anything the others cant.

Or just watch one of those "dollar bills in a bowl greed tests"

Poll numbers...

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_ ... he_economy
That number includes 66% who say it is very likely that the official projections understate the true cost of the plan.

Two-out-of-three voters (66%) also believe the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats is likely to increase the federal deficit.

This includes 65% who say middle-class tax hikes are very likely, a six-point increase from late November.

The new figures include just 20% who Strongly Favor the plan and 41% who are Strongly Opposed.
There is much more.

Are you claiming that Britain did not have a Mortgage/Banking/Financial crisis? And we have already been through this. Y'all bought Socialized Health Care. We bought the Armed forces that protected you from the USSR. If you had had to defend yourselves, you could not have afforded your nanny state giveaways.

This didn't happen in Canada.

And what of the person who can't afford either? And what of the person who chooses the insurance and the TV only to find out that the insurance doesn't cover what they now have and no one warned them about that?

Just because we have healthcare coverage doesn't mean we all go around trying to get sick so we can have a paid sick day.
