I don't know for 100%, but most liklely not. I thing I will still be alive 2013 a chear my 24th birthday with relatives/friends. I remember reading that some scientist had recalculated something in the bible and came to the conclusion that the apocalyptic crap will come 2030... The Mayans accsully predicted that their Yucatanic cities would be destroyed 2012 or was it just some really nasty wheather that they predicted, no apocalyps.
(worlds end crap, predicted by Mayans, and copy pasted by other)

Ehe ehe... eeeh.... nooope! I'm not a Super-Hyper christian, that moovie is a modern day version on Noa and his arc(s). Right inspired from the Bible! should of been moore of an "neutral" film instead of hiding Christian crosses all over the place, they should of took more influence from other religions/non-Religions also. It was a nice movie though, nice effects and stuff.
(Movie)

Yes, I belive "in it"(that it will come)

(the Year 2012)

Nope I don't belive... it's a virus or something
(Web Bot)

What else about "2012"?

Dec 2012 is just the day when the galaxy aligns, and then restarts the samo rotation its been doing. The long count. No different then when a clock reaches 12:00, Or when we get to Dec 31rst, We put up a new calander.

Now is the world going to crumble and flip in when this alignment happens? I think not as the long count has happend before. But it was pretty smart of them to figure all this stuff out with the tech they had then.

Long and short of it:

5 Billion years the sun dies and sweels up and gobbles the earth up! If deep space travel is impossible by then, kiss humanity goodbye.
If by some miracle the sun stays alive, 50 billion years the moon will ahve left our orbit anyways. That means no gravitational force to keep the earths tilt. That means random roations in the earths tilt. At an extreme some believe the earths tilt could be so random that the planet could flip and the poles switch ends, (north to south and vise versa).
Africa could become the next polar ice fields and the artic becomes a tropical paradise.

Also no moons gravity == no oceanic tides. Very bad for the evolution of life. Species would die and dissapear. Would'nt be a fun time for the world.

2012: Bah humbug!

Trust your voters' intelligence. It's up to you to determine whether this is sarcasm or not.

Did anyone ever consider that after writing a calendar that went for thousands of years after they would die, the Mayans just got bored and went to find something else to do?

IMO, humans are going to cause the end of the world, not some mysterious force.

The mayan years that predict "apocalyps" is translated to christian years, to the year 2012. The maya(some) still use the mayan calendrar.
