this is one of the very very few times that i actually agree with you it has become more of a joke ,although i disagree with you about AL ghore ,i agree on every thing else & plus obama has done nothing huge enough to win such a prize ,i don't see any reason for him being nominated even

The Nobel Peace Prize is the only Nobel Prize that has no real requirement for winning. It's a joke prize, and I don't think it matters that anyone won it.

As i understand the laws,its not legal for Obama to accept said money.The Nobel Committee is appointed by the Norwegian Government,which makes it legally part of said government.

As such, under federal law he can neither keep it ,nor give it to charity as ive heard some say the white house said he was going to do with it. Legally of course.
If he wants to play fast and loose with the law,like Rangel and many other current pols do,well....who knows how that would end up.

But legally speaking, he can only accept it as a "gift to america".And then the state department would take charge of it,usually giving it to the National Archives .

His best bet,is to tell them to give them money to charity instead of awarding it to him.And even then, they cant do so in his name,but would have to do so in their own name.

That some at the white house have said Obama will accept it and give it away to charity,really seems to show an incredible lack of knowledge on the issue beyond amateurish...

I don't care how successful Obama could be, there are many others who deserve that prize.

IIRC Gandhi didn't. There was a Businessmen-turned-unsuccessful-Politician guy in Turkey who managed to make peace and cancel the CENTURY old feud between two Kurdish clans.

Then there was Nida Sultan, that Iranian grl who got shot just because she didn't want to put up with hairy Mullahs.

Then there was that Myanmar President lady who got imprisoned by Junta.

Dont get me wrong, I hope Obama does something amazing because it would be nice to have someone in place of power actually do something decent instead of being corrupted and/or useless

I just like the way they have given it too him, yet he hasn't really done anything much, and in fact the world is now closer to having a major war (due to Iran + NK), man if I start WW3 i think I may win the prize and the $1.5million, which would set me up for life lol.
