If your confused about how this happened...all you need to know is the government is involved

The way it runs is this .....
*The government runs programs that control what some people eat.Among those are school children and the poor.Basically anyone who gets "helped" by the government to feed themselves.
*This means that IF a food type is considered "approved" by the government,they will allow it to be part of the diet of the group above.
*Pizza was NOT a food type approved by the government under the fda's new guidelines.Pizza is inexpensive compared to many other choices that ARE approved ,AND many companies have a huge investment in selling pizza to the group above.Especially where schools are involved.
*So pizza had to change its category or risk being dropped from the menus of food programs assisted by the government.

And so it did.

If you go back circa 20 years,the gov tried to declare ketchup a veggie also.Now that it only requires 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce to qualify as a veggie,ketchup could yet make it.

The more I think about this the more I lose faith in the Government who is balancing our budget(wait, I had faith in the Government? What?)
