I also would have gone for the Merkava(Israeli designs are automatic win), but I'm voting the M1A3, despite it not actually existing. The highest variant is currently the A2. The M1A2 is capable of destroying all of the others on that list with ease(except for maybe the Leopard) and has a spotless combat record.

I had a former 20 year tanker vet talk to me about armor tactics and the differance between the A1 and the A2 varient of the Abrams. He said that the A2 was actually WORSE than the A1 because of the installed back up generator which caused the tank to have less fuel capacity. and thus less endurance. He also said that a lot of the tests that they ran had American veteran crews going against green raw recruits in tank sim battles in order to pimp American tech. His favorite was actually the Leopard 2A6.

Keep in mind that the Jap Type 90, M1A2 and Lepord A6 all use the same main gun made by the sam company with only diffrent sites. I voted the M1A2 becouse they have never been destroyed in tank combat and I once herd that one got stuck in Iraq so they tried to destroy it and shot it 20 0r 30 times with another M1 and still the tank wasn't destroyed so eventualy they had to bring in 2 recovery veichles to pull it out.

I'm playing Croatia currently, I can not speak for the real world, but in game the Degman is a very nice medium/light tank unit. The only complaint I have with it is it's arty resistance is weak, so it is more useful toodling around wacking marauding units than it is in a siege situation.

What about the british challenger, it uses the L7 gun too. Problem with the Abrams is its engine, the thing puts out a heat plume the size of wisconsin. The americans keep doing that, sticking aircraft engines in their MBTs

The engine in the M1 was desighened to start fast abd allow instant power to move the tank quickly from defensive position to position. The Challenger 2 might deserve to be on there as well.

Not enough combat has been seen for having a good Idea of what is really important in modern warfare. I'd vote Leclerc by pure patriotism, but frankly, all those machines are rather neat - as long as you're not fighting them with a bayonet.....

Challenger 2 for the win, it fires the only shell that can defeat 2nd gen Chobham, which neither the Abraham's or leopard can fire, due to the fact that they have smoothbores, which cannot stablise the round.
