ha, where was the UN in Biafra? where was the UN in Lebanon when the Syrians shelled Christians with Katiusha rockets, 155 mm artillery where where was it, killing by the hundreds, I remember those days when they where supposed to be the peacekeepers, and now you send UNIFIL, ha thats a joke, why didn't the UN come and help those poor starving children in Biafra? What about in actual Syria, Hama? and now you go and punish the Serbians for Kosovo and the massacres. When my country fought for independence and liberation against the Syrian "Peacekeepers" the UN did not do anything, until 2005 after everything. and now you force Israel to stop fighting in Gaza and West Bank, when will the western world stop being brainwashed by Saudi oil?

Who is it your looking for an answer from ?

I agree with almost everything youve said, bar the oil comment. As Light said, the U.N. peacekeepers arent there to really solve much (if anything at all). They're basically just an expensive side show in most cases, who counter to their name, cant and dont actually keep the peace.

COUGH*newenergysources*COUGH

UN is a joke for money stealing. Red tape IS the main reason and tool of UN to embezzle money to its officials while painting the eyes of the sheeple to look like a semblance of order.

The only day they really threatened anyone is us Turks even when we were FAR MORE justified in our actions of invading Cyprus than some Bongo-Bongo-People's Republic of Diamonds dictator...

I'm not saying we were perfect... But UN usually steals money from the world, and only stepped up and showed its teeth when White Christian Cypriots were threatened, something which has darker tones as well... Never defending Africans actually, but "their own people"... After all, we...we "ni**ers, sandni**ers, chinks, yellows, turbanheads, turks, azns" are just swarthy barbarians at their gates, aren't we?!

I'll just keep listening to United Abominations.

No problem Lion, I think the guys were just letting you know that you are not alone in despising the UN.

Lion, you have to keep in mind there are a few people here who have actually worked for the U.N., and so have some loyalty to it.As well as some people like in the dev team itself who would like to work for the U.N. :P
Go in game and look at the name of the U.N. president, its actually one of the devs ...

But a bunch of us here feel the same way about the U.N. that you do.Hence this thread and the others like it.

It is also possible to support the ideals promoted by the UN without being satisfied with the implementation.

I'll come right out and say it, the UN has performed miserably in many areas.

However, I haven't done specific research to feel confident picking precise cases as example.

I'm busy reading the autobiography of one of our former Prime Ministers and waiting for another book to arrive by mail.

I still say that having an international body that can impose rules on sovereign nations in certain cases is a good idea, although I don't like how the security council is built. I think that the other G20 nations should get more recognition at the UN.

The UN can't do anything important anyway - it only takes one country to veto.

I like that much better, no appearance of hedging there.

And i think just the opposite on some of that.Yes i think a world organization should exist, and yes i think it should have power to decide international issues that its members agree ARE international issues.
This definiation of "international issues" should be so well spelled out it bores lawyers to death reading it, and have NO apparent wiggle room.Any issue that exposed wiggle room would by default fall outside their purview til said members agree on the specifics dealing with such,or til 6 months has passed, at which time its deemed outside the purview til its next unrelated occurance.

The body that upholds the laws should however NOT be composed of nations ,as this leads to conflict of interest, it should instead consist of people who have no affiliation with any given country or cause. And as far as international issues go, be above all the countries that are part of the organization.
Its word should be law, violation of which truly punishable by any means required,by the Org.And those punishments spelled out specifically so theres question.

With said world organization having explicit and strict membership rules.None of this crap where the worst offenders of human rights end up on a council overseeing human rights  ,like we can have now.

You looking for otherworldly influence here ? People come from somewhere , how would they not have some kind of affiliation with any country ?
