I have been looking for threads regarding experimental military hardware. I am particularly interested to know if researching certain futuristic aircraft would reveal a new “path” to a viable next generation stealth bomber, or a high altitude interceptor that is somewhat impervious to modern fighter aircraft.
To put another way, would I get more options for researching futuristic hardware from researching technology? Or, by researching and employing certain prototypes, is it that knowledge that unlocks the new technologies that I am so interested?
Ps. I was somewhat hesitant to ask because it’s fun to find out on the fly, so to speak....but my curiosity got the best of me as I haven’t had a game that has lasted as long as my current . Thank you

Re: Experimental Military Hardware
There is a 2nd "generation" of Stealth Bomber you can unlock, but from my experience it is the same as the 1st generation with slightly better stats. There are high tier fighters which are muti-role and absolutely awesome.

Re: Experimental Military Hardware
It can take alot of techs but eventually there are some nice interceptors and multi roles. Theres 1 strategic bomber available worldwde i think. It just takes alot of techs.
I would prefer research UI of SR2020, where those units are in the research slots way earlier. Now you need like 1 tech before the unit shows in the research tab, which makes the techs very confusing for me atleast.

Unfortunately for "minor" region you have to research quit far in the future to be able to manufacture the (worldwide available) hightech units.
If playing a major region, you can get earlier hightech (region specific) units.
With doubleclick you can enter the research tree and then select even future follow-on technologie and see wich goodies they have, hover over them and you see their exact stats, and if you play not your usual superpower pay attention to which region it is bound, maybe you wont get that unit...
