yes (the f-14d tomcat)
yes, but better don't go over 50%....remember!! it must come back. That has a range of 2150km
40km from air position to ship position....or better 2 hex.Can only auto attack a surface ship by itself from the deck of a carrier 40km away?

Now i know why carriers do not work. Someone needs to redo all the surface attacks on the planes.
Because what they have now is dumb as hell. The surface attack should be half their range.

Re: Carriers.
That is not a good idea. It would negate the need for a plane to get into the air. Just park them around the map and they are now Artillery. A planes travelling range has nothing to do with its attack range.Jason z. wrote: The surface attack should be half their range.

Well if the planes wont even take off to defend themselfs then that is what needs to be done.
They need to scrap the entire system and start over with air units
They do something like civ 3 and have the planes base somewhere and you can set them to intercept land attack and sea attack and the planes will attack anything that comes into its range....the plane system they have now doesnt work unless you micromanage the hell out of them.

Re: Carriers.
Or they can make the planes patrol off a moving carrier and return to the carrier and take off again on patrol
If i set the planes to patrol and move the carrier the planes will return to where the carrier originally was like the carrier never moved. Id be happy if they anchored planes on the carrier so if i set the plane on patrol it will stay around the carrier when the carrier moves

Re: Carriers.
If you set a plane to escort, it will go to the CV and land. The key is not to forget each hex is 16kms wide, That is about 10 miles. You need to put all ships in a task force in the same hex, then move it as a Task Force. Especially in the early era's, where radar was not heard of, or very new and spotting is not as good as it is in modern times. Weather also affects spotting.
