Power Plants - Which is the best? + How to get rich
Hallo,
because of the great ingame info to the Power Plants ... i made a little calculation.
the winner are "other" and "hydro" - as expected. coal after petrol are the most expensive.
please take into account ... if your GDP rises, the Facility Cost will also cost much more to build!
maybe i missed something? (beside... antimatter, fusion and the other solar) - they come very late.
+ how much energy will be generated from a city?
+ how will be "Efficiency of Power up to +10" calculated?
+ it's possible that Supply & Loyalty have no impact on Power Plants?
thanks

Facility Cost = Each plant is different depending on your economy
Build Time = 220 days
Industry Goods = 108,493
Military Goods = 0
Annual Maintenance = Changes based on economy
Max possible Output = 855,745 I have seen different numbers, not sure what influences this besides tech and supply amount.
thanks
Out of the blue note: I noticed about 8 years ago, in SR2020, that maintenance costs change as your economy changes, for all things in game, including units. I have not paid attention to it in SRU as much. But, just loading several save games I currently have, I can see different numbers for Maintenence Cost of the Fusion power plants. Not looked at units in SRU yet.

And you will need tech effects, those do not show. And supposedly supply affects it too.
I still think Coal is the fastest/cheapest to build, cheapest to support including coal mines based on that thread. But if you can prove it wrong i'll cheerfully (well, grudgingly!) switch to a different power plant type.

Leafgreen - I have noticed at times, within the last several months, this site does not return all matches to a search. I noticed this when searching my own posts. I notified Mr Geczy at that time.
I believe the posts are still here, just not showing for some reason. You may have to manually search the topic/thread you believe it was posted in.

I need to test this but i have this idea it is good to build a mix, like maybe clean power improves your gdp, simply because you do not need raw resources. Yes it is expensive, but every expence improves your gdp as far as i know, how this is calculated, that is the question. Maybe hidden jobs take an effect too? Who knows..

Re: Power Plants - Which is the best? + How to get rich
I'm confused
How do you figure coal is the most expensive (specifically compared to petrol now)
I'm going off of ingame tooltips now, so i may be wrong, but...
Coal puts out 2x the MW energy per plant while consuming less input units (coal), which also is about 2x cheaper (than petrol per unit). Annual maintenance is the same for both plants
Of course the price values are subjective to the global market, but... i don't see how petrol is better in a cheap coal environment

Re: Power Plants - Which is the best? + How to get rich
Never thought about it, but I suppose the more high tech plants would raise GDP/c. Well, should. Found this today over on a different forum.
You know... for the dozens of AI problems, commands/controls/techs that don't work they still made an incredibly complex, highly detailed and fun game with long-term replayability that did a million and one things right.Cutting taxes will, OVER TIME, result in higher GDP/C. Also, what sort of work your people are doing determines how much they make, as well. Working in a nuclear power plant pays rather better than picking fruit on a farm. Finally, employers pay only as much as they have to in order to get people to work for them. The more jobs there are, the higher everyone's wages rise as competition for labor increases.
In short, build production buildings. The better they are, and the more of them that there are, the higher GDP will rise. This does, of course, make it more expensive to produce things in your country, so margins will decrease, and some low-priced activities such as agriculture and water production may ultimately become cheaper to import than to produce domestically.

yes - they change ... but have not such a big impact on the /MWh price.GIJoe597 wrote: Out of the blue note: I noticed about 8 years ago, in SR2020, that maintenance costs change as your economy changes, for all things in game, including units.
