AI Industrial and military complexes

Post by grgast »

Hi!
I'm pretty much stuck with SR GC, but since support for GC is no longer available I'll post my question here, since I presume SRU suffers similar issues.

I prefer long multi-stage conflicts with bordering countries, and I usualy try to disable as much of AI military and industrial structures to temporary cripple opponents and weaken their military potential. Trying to make conflict as real as possible, I conduct series of airstrikes on enemy structures, but I'd like my former enemy to rebuild it's economy once the conflict ends. I realize that in SR GC AI had the ability to build facilities, but could not build complexes.

The problem is that when I bombard enemy facilities, industrial/military complex seems to suffer much more damage than attached facility/factory I'm trying to destroy. Airstrikes always destroy entire complex along with facilities and AI can not rebuild it. I was wondering if that changed in SRU?

Can it be done that individual factory can be destroyed without having to destroy entire complex?

I believe it is Global Crisis

SR 2010? I never played that. I would be no help, hopefully someone who played 2010 will respond.

Wow you are all thick. GC is Global Crisis, an expansion and a scenario for SR:2020. http://www.battlegoat.com/supreme_2020_GC.php
This scenario exists in SR:U as well but clearly the original poster meant SR2020 because he asked if SR:U is any different from his portrayed scenario.

That must be it, I am thick.

grgast - I would have sworn I used to be able to target individual slots on a hex in SR2020. I started it up to check and on a quick test I could not. I tried same thing in SRU and also could not. I reckon the answer to your question is no it did not change in SRU. That being typed, it might be possible for the AI to build center hubs in SRU, I think I have seen it doing so but I have not played it enough to be certain. Perhaps someone less thicker than me, could answer that for us.

Yeah I think you can target separate facilities only with artillery and maybe aircraft bombers. Not sure about missiles.

I tested with F-16s and AGMs and F-16s and inherent bombing attack. Might need to test with Strategic Bombers.
